The control unit operates the first push-up mechanism and then operates the second push-up mechanism when an impact applied to the vehicle from the front of the seat is detected or predicted.

The positioning system also includes a lock movable between an unlocked position in which the lock permits motion of the deflection surface relative to motion of the occupant and a locked position in which the lock restrains motion of the deflection surface relative to motion of the occupant. The lock is configured to move from the unlocked position to the locked position in response to receiving a signal from a controller, the signal including information indicative of a vehicle event.

An airbag for an airbag arrangement of a vehicle seat of vehicle includes an inflatable cover. The inflatable cover includes an upper part facing a seat surface, a lower part facing a vehicle floor, and a casing part interconnecting the upper part and the lower part. The inflatable cover folds during a standby state and inflates during an operational state. During the inflation process, the upper part of the inflatable cover applies a force against the thighs or the pelvic region of an occupant sitting on the vehicle seat to lift these the thighs or the pelvic region of the occupant. The inflatable cover includes at least one cutout to guide an air current through the airbag. The casing part is shaped during the inflation process to define a support surface for engaging the thighs or the pelvic region of the occupant sitting on the vehicle seat.

A vehicle seat frame includes a seat cushion frame, left and right links, a connection member, left and right slide rails, and left and right risers. The seat cushion frame includes left and right side frames. The left and right links each have a one end portion connected to respective front portions of the left and right side frames. The connection member connects the left and right links together in the seat left-right direction. The left and right slide rails are disposed below the left and right side frames and are attached to a floor section of the vehicle. The left and right risers are respectively attached to the left and right slide rails, are connected to respective other end portions of the left and right links, and are configured to be impacted by the connection member under load from the occupant during a head-on collision of the vehicle.

A seat cushion frame configuring a framework of a seat cushion for an occupant of a vehicle to sit on and including left and right side frames and a cushion pan. The left and right side frames are disposed at left and right side portions of the seat cushion. The cushion pan connects upper end portions of front portions of the left and right side frames together in a seat left-right direction, and is weakened locally at a weakened portion provided at a seat left-right direction center of a rear end portion of the cushion pan.

A seat cushion frame configuring framework of a seat cushion for an occupant of a vehicle to sit on, and including left and right side frames, a cushion pan, and a reinforcement member. The cushion pan connects upper end portions of front portions of the left and right side frames together in a seat left-right direction. The reinforcement member includes the left and right reinforcement portions respective affixed to the seat left-right direction sides of the rear end portion of the cushion pan.

VEHICLE SEAT FRAME AND VEHICLE SEAT

In a vehicle seat frame, a connection member that connects left and right links together in a seat left-right direction is disposed below a rear portion of a cushion pan included in a seat cushion frame. A sloped surface sloped with a downward gradient toward a seat rear side is formed at a lower surface of the rear portion of the cushion pan. The sloped surface of the cushion pan slides in a seat rearward and diagonally downward direction relative to the connection member when the cushion pan deforms in a seat downward direction under load from the occupant during a head-on collision of the vehicle.
