A frame of a vehicle dolly includes a wheel cradle opening to receive a wheel of a vehicle to be towed. A hinged member is pivotally attached to the frame and is movable between an open position and a closed position to form part of a wheel cradle. A hinge activation device contacts the wheel within the wheel cradle opening and responsively moves the hinged member toward the closed position. The frame of the vehicle dolly is vertically slidably coupled to an axle assembly such that the frame can be raised and lowered. An extension member may extend from the frame and receive a tow truck stinger member, wherein the frame can be raised or lowered under motive force of the stinger member.

The invention also describes a method of loading a motorcycle into the motorcycle loading apparatus.

METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR TRANSFERRING A HEAVY WORK MACHINE ON A SLOPING BASE
20170254047 · 2017-09-07 ·

A method for slowing transfer of a heavy work machine on a sloping base using a transportation device equipped with wheels, the work machine including a body, a crawler chassis fitted beneath the body, a set of booms having at least one operating cylinder, a first end and a second end, said set of booms being pivoted at the first end to the work machine and a selected auxiliary device is pivoted at the second end, and a brake surface connected to the auxiliary device, in which method includes the steps of transferring the work machine by supporting the work machine on the crawler chassis at least partly on top of the transportation device, towing the work machine using a transfer vehicle with the aid of the transportation device, using said operating cylinder of the set of booms to press the brake surface against the sloping base to create friction to slow transfer speed of the transportation device on the sloping base, and adjusting pressing of the brake surface taking place through the auxiliary device using the operating cylinder or one set of booms. An arrangement in connection with a heavy work machine for transferring the work machine on a sloping base is also described.

System for lifting and transporting an aircraft

A system for lifting and transporting an aircraft comprising a movable platform, a lower lift system, and a first pair of wheels. The platform comprises a frame having an upper and a lower surface and a plurality of hook ups. The lower lift system is configured to raise the platform and an aircraft supported by the frame. The lower lift system comprises a lifter selected from the group consisting of: at least one hydraulic jack, at least one pneumatic jack, slots for forklift arms, at least one inflatable airbag, and combinations of any or all of the foregoing. The first pair of wheels are coupled to or configured for coupling to the frame so that the raised platform with an aircraft supported by the platform can be transported. A method of using the system comprises positioning the system beneath an aircraft and lifting the platform and the aircraft.

TOWING DOLLY ASSEMBLY

A towing dolly assembly includes a beam having first and second ends and a longitudinal axis, first and second spindle assemblies arranged at the first and second ends, respectively, and first and second axle cradle assemblies arranged adjacent to the first and second ends, respectively. The first and second spindle assemblies include first and second cam locks and first and second locking arms, respectively. The first and second cam locks are fixedly attached to a first side of the beam. The first locking arm is pivotable about a first axis extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis between the first side and a second side of the beam. The second locking arm is pivotable about a second axis extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis between the first and second sides of the beam.

Tow dolly cross rail assembly with positive camber
11827137 · 2023-11-28 ·

A tow dolly cross rail assembly includes a male bar and a pair of female bars arranged in a slidable relationship, forming an arched configuration that creates a positive camber effect at dolly tires at the outer ends of the bars. The male bar comprises an apex that forms an angle that orients upwardly, forming an angle between about 165° to 179°. The center male bar and pair of female bars are arranged in a slidable relationship with each other. The midpoint of the center male bar forms an apex. The inner end of female bars is in a slidable relationship with free ends of center male bar. The female bars telescopically slide along the free ends of center male bar for increasing and decreasing length of cross rail. The arched configuration of the center male bar slopes the female bars to create a positive camber at the dolly tires.

Carriage for moving a wheeled object

A steerable carriage for moving a wheeled object comprising at least one engagement device (3) configured to engage with and elevate a wheel (5) of the wheeled object off the ground such that the wheeled object can be moved upon displacement of the carriage by transmitting a propulsion force from the carriage to the wheeled object via the at least one engagement device, wherein the at least one engagement device comprises: a support device (12), an actuating device (13) movable with respect to the support device such as to cause the wheel to roll forward onto the support device and be held by the support device and the actuating device, wherein the support device comprises: a stopping member (18) movable between a folded position and a stopping position in which it is configured to stop forward motion of the wheel, and an activation member (23) configured to cause the stopping member to move from the folded position to the stopping position when the wheel is rolled onto the support device.

ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE TRANSPORTATION AND RECOVERY DEVICE

Off-road incidents, breakdowns etc. require that an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is recovered. Typically, the environments these incidents occur prevent driving pick-up trucks etc. to them to use conventional trailers. Similarly, prior art mounts for towing an ATV require its placement and attachment which can be extremely difficult during warmer months when caked in mud, leaves, etc. and worse in winter when caked in snow, ice, etc. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide users with a means of transporting an ATV within off-road environments allowing not only a simple and easy assembly/attachment of the ATV with the ATV transportation means but also for the resulting combination of the towing vehicle, in all likelihood another ATV, and the ATV transportation means to be driven out of the off-road environment to an on-road environment for subsequent repair, transportation etc. of the broken or other ATV.
