A tarp for a vehicle bed is developed for engagement with a reel that is rotated by a motor for rolling and unrolling the tarp across a vehicle bed. When the tarp has been unrolled and fully covers the vehicle bed, the tarp stretches across the vehicle bed and has side edges supported upon the respective upper edges of the bed side walls. The features or structures of the tarp that are kinematic are designed such that they may be permanently attached to the other members in the machine or tarp system, which thereby meets functional needs of the tarp, and provide long term consistent deployment of the tarp covering sections. The material used in this kinematic part of the tarp is chosen such that the life of this component is improved. Additionally, covering sections are provided in this tarp configuration.

A bed cap configured for placement on a top surface of a bed wall defining a cargo area of a vehicle, the top surface defined between an inside wall and an outside wall, the bed cap covering the top surface between the inside wall and the outside wall at least along a section of a length of the bed wall, wherein the bed cap comprises a channel configured to collect fluid and/or debris and an opening for evacuating the fluid and/or debris from the channel.

A tarp deploying apparatus includes radial arm with a proximal radial arm and a distal arm. The distal arm is formed from a flexible material such as a double-walled hydraulic hose. The distal arm attaches to a tarp roller to deploy the tarp over a storage area on a trailer with at least one rear door. The radial arm is mounted on a mounting bracket secured to one of the doors. A releasable connector between the arms permits the distal arm to be separated from the proximal arm so that the rear doors on the trailer can be opened and closed without interference from the radial arm.

The present disclosure provides a fastening system for using in a flexible tonneau cover system. In one aspect, the fastening system comprises a corner member connected to a end rail, and a connecting member connected to an side rail. The corner member comprises a positioning tab that is received in a positioning groove formed on the connecting member. In another aspect, the fastening system comprise a corner member with a recess portion. When the corner member is connected with a side rail at an end thereof, the recess portion and the end of side rail form an accommodating groove. In another aspect, the fastening system comprise a fastening element coupled to an elongated slat. A reinforce tab is coupled with the fastening element, and wraps over an end of the elongated slat to extend at a bottom surface of the elongated slat.
