Air bag module, monitoring apparatus for supplemental restraint system, and method
An airbag module for a supplemental restraint system of a vehicle can include an inflator, an airbag attached to the inflator and in fluid communication with the inflator; and a module controller mounted to the inflator. The module controller can be configured to: determine an elapsed service time of the inflator based on the identification information of the vehicle; compare the elapsed service time to a first time threshold; and output a disable signal to the SRS controller commanding the SRS controller to disable a firing pulse for the inflator when the elapsed service time is greater than or equal to the first time threshold.
Techniques for deploying vehicle airbag systems with primary and auxiliary airbags
Airbag systems for use in a vehicle that is operable in a manual-steering mode or an automated-steering mode are provided. In one embodiment, an airbag system includes a primary airbag installed in a dashboard of a vehicle. The primary airbag is configured to be deployed when a collision event is detected, and, when deployed, the primary airbag is configured to protect a person seated in a driver seat of the vehicle. the airbag system also includes an auxiliary airbag configured to be deployed when the collision event is detected. During operation of the vehicle in a manual-steering mode, the deployment of the auxiliary airbag is configured to reduce contact between the primary airbag and a steering wheel of the vehicle when the primary airbag is deployed from the dashboard.
PNEUMATIC SEAT SAFETY SYSTEM OF VEHICLE, CONTROL METHOD, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
A safety system and control method for a pneumatic seat of a vehicle, and a computer-readable medium, the pneumatic seat (10) including a plurality of airbags (101, 102, 103, 104, 105, and 106) corresponding to body parts of an occupant, an information collection module, an information integration module (3), and a control module (4), where the information collection module is configured to collect vehicle body data, motion information, and external environment information of the vehicle, the information integration module (3) is configured to determine a current working scenario of the vehicle based on the vehicle body data, the motion information, and the external environment information; and the control module (4) is configured to inflate a seat cushion airbag (105) when it is determined that the current working scenario is a first working scenario, so as to partially deploy the seat cushion airbag (105); and is configured to fully inflate and deploy the seat cushion airbag (105) when it is determined that the current working scenario is a second working scenario.
Method for operating an occupant protection device
A method for operating an occupant protection device of a vehicle involves triggering an occupant protection mechanism, in the event of an imminent detected collision for the vehicle or of a detected collision of the vehicle. The triggering also depends upon detected image data of at least one interior camera of the vehicle and the triggering can be suppressed based on the detected image data of the interior camera.
Driver side airbag module
A vehicle steering system including a yoke type steering wheel. An airbag module located in the steering wheel and including an inflator and an airbag. The airbag is configured to inflate into two configurations. In the first configuration the airbag is fully inflated into a circular configuration and in the second configuration the airbag inflates into a u-shaped configuration. The u-shaped configuration is formed by a tether connected at a first end to the airbag and at a second end to a tether release device. The tether release device is configured to stay connected to the tether when the driver is determined to be in an out of position (OOP) condition.
Vehicle airbag device, control method for vehicle airbag device, and storage medium
A vehicle airbag device includes: an inflator configured to generate gas when a first squib and a second squib are fired, respectively; an airbag including a main bag portion configured to inflate and deploy between an occupant seated in a passenger seat and an instrument panel and between the occupant and a windshield when the gas generated by the inflator is supplied into the airbag, and a center bag portion configured to project between the passenger seat and a driver seat from the main bag portion; and a controlling portion configured to control the inflator such that, when a head-on collision occurs, the second squib is fired after the first squib is fired, and when an oblique collision occurs, the second squib is fired after the first squib is fired and at a timing earlier than that when the head-on collision occurs.
Vehicle occupant restraint system and method for operating a vehicle occupant restraint system
The invention describes a vehicle occupant restraint system (2) comprising a control unit and at least two restraint elements (8, 10) for the protection of lower extremities (6, 6′, 7, 7′) in the area of a footwell (4) of a vehicle of a vehicle occupant seated in a particular vehicle seat of the vehicle, wherein a first restraint element (8) is configured as a knee airbag module (12), wherein a second restraint element (10) is provided for mounting into the footwell (4) of the vehicle, especially in an area of the footwell (4) of the vehicle arranged in the vehicle longitudinal direction (x) ahead of the knee airbag module (12), wherein, in a situation of restraint, the control unit can differentiate between different given situations, wherein the given situation can be determined via a vehicle seat position and parameters relating to vehicle occupants, wherein, in the situation of restraint, when a situation is given in which the vehicle seat (5) is in a position shifted backwards, especially in a position shifted backwards compared to the standard position, and the vehicle occupant is a short and/or light person, the control unit only activates the foot airbag module (16) of the second restraint element (10).
Apparatus, system and method for repositioning occupant in a crash event
An airbag system for repositioning a seat occupant in a moving vehicle during a crash event includes: a first inflatable airbag disposed proximate to a front portion of a seat pan; a second inflatable airbag disposed proximate to a rear portion of the seat pan; and inflation control device controlling deployment of the first and second inflatable airbags. The inflation control device includes a programmable controller controlling inflation parameters of the first and second inflatable airbags to achieve a desired lift, subject to monument constraints.
Triggering at least one crash cushion of an unmanned vehicle
A method is disclosed in which sensor information is obtained that is captured by at least one environment sensor of an unmanned vehicle. The sensor information represents at least one object parameter of an object that is moving relative to the unmanned vehicle. At least partly based on the at least one object parameter, it is determined whether a collision between the unmanned vehicle and the object is imminent. If it is determined that a collision between the unmanned vehicle and the object is imminent, at least partly based on the at least one object parameter, at least one triggering parameter is determined for triggering at least one crash cushion of the unmanned vehicle. The at least one crash cushion is triggered according to the at least one triggering parameter. The at least one crash cushion is triggered before the imminent collision.
