Low-impact collision detection
In general, techniques are described by which a computing system detects low-impact collisions. A computing system includes at least one processor and memory. The memory includes instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to determine whether an object collided with a vehicle based on a comparison of data received from at least one motion sensor configured to measure at least an acceleration of the vehicle and data received from a plurality of level sensors, wherein each level sensor is configured to measure a relative position between a body of the vehicle and a respective wheel of a plurality of wheels of the vehicle. Execution of the instructions further causes the at least one processor to perform one or more actions in response to determining that the object collided with the vehicle.

Method and device for controlling triggering of at least one passenger protection device for a motor vehicle and safety system for a vehicle
A method for controlling triggering of at least one passenger protection device for a vehicle. The method includes a step of determining whether a signal level of at least one read-in impact signal, which represents a change in a vehicle condition indicating a potential collision of the vehicle with a potential accident object, exceeds an evaluation limiting value. The method also includes a step of using a high triggering threshold value for triggering of the at least one passenger protection device when the signal level of the at least one read-in impact signal exceeds the evaluation limiting value.
ROAD SURFACE CONTACT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM
A road surface contact avoidance system includes a server apparatus and vehicles communicably coupled to the server apparatus via a network. The vehicles each include a road surface contact detector detecting contact between a bottom portion of a corresponding one of the vehicles and a road surface, a contact information transmitter transmitting contact information to the server apparatus, a contact determiner determining whether a possibility of the contact between the bottom portion of the corresponding vehicle and the road surface is high based on vehicle information on the corresponding vehicle and vehicle information on another of the vehicles on which the contact has been detected, and a control processor performing control to avoid an occurrence of the contact between the bottom portion of the corresponding vehicle and the road surface when the contact determiner determines that the possibility of the contact is high.
