METHOD OF FOLDING AN AIRBAG, AIRBAG, AIRBAG MODULE AND VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method of folding an airbag (10), especially for a driver airbag module, comprising a front airbag layer (11) which is connected at least in portions to a rear airbag layer (12), the method comprising the following steps of: a) flatly spreading the airbag (10) onto a support surface (15) so that the front airbag layer (11) comes to rest on the rear airbag layer (12), b) folding, especially zigzag folding, at least in portions each of an upper airbag portion (20) and a lower airbag portion (21) in the direction of a transverse axis (Q) of the airbag (10), c) furling each of a left-hand lateral airbag portion (30) and a right-hand lateral airbag portion (31) in the direction of a longitudinal axis (L) of the airbag (10).
Vehicle occupant restraint system having an airbag module and method for assembling an airbag
A vehicle occupant restraint system comprises an airbag module (12) including an inflator (18) and a frontally acting airbag (16), wherein the airbag (16) includes an inflator-side inflation end (46) as well as a first free end (56) located in the inflated state of the airbag (16) within a vehicle interior. In a first period during deployment of the airbag (16), the first free end (56) is still connected via a tether (74) to the airbag module (12), wherein the tether (74) becomes detached upon reaching a predetermined tensile force. When folding the airbag (16), the non-inflated airbag (16) is spread so that a second free end (58) is maximally distant from the inflation end (46) and a first outer wall portion is stretched in the longitudinal direction of the airbag (16), and the first free end (56) is located in the vicinity of the inflation end (46) and a second outer wall portion is stretched in the longitudinal direction of the airbag (16), wherein a third outer wall portion of the airbag (16) is folded back onto itself at least in a portion. The two lateral areas of the spread airbag (16) are folded toward the center, and subsequently the airbag (16) is rolled up from the second free end (58).
Vehicular airbag wind-up device
A wind-up device for winding up a vehicular airbag includes a base, a bar, and a first movable member. The base has an elongated plate shape extending in a first direction and includes a housing section that extends in the first direction. The vehicular airbag is placed on the base. The bar is disposed in the housing section and has a center axis extending in the first direction. The bar is rotatable around the center axis and includes a groove that extends in the first direction and is recessed from an outer surface of the bar toward the center axis. The first movable member extends in the first direction along the bar and is movable to be closer to the bar. The first movable member includes an insertion section that is to be inserted into the groove together with a portion of the airbag that is above the housing section.

Packaging method for an airbag, airbag and a device for folding or rolling an airbag
A method of rolling or folding an airbag to a thin tight tube, includes stretching the airbag during the rolling or folding in length direction.
Method for folding an airbag
In a method of folding a curtain-type side airbag (10) into an elongate airbag package (12) defining a longitudinal direction (L), wherein the side airbag (10) at one longitudinal end includes an elongate inflatable extension (14) having a free end (34), in a first folding step the extension (14) is folded over at a first folding line (30) enclosing an angle (α) <90°, especially between 30° and 60°, with the longitudinal direction (L), and in a second subsequent folding step the free end (34) of the extension (14) is folded over at a second folding line (36), the second folding line (36) enclosing an angle (β) of 0 to 45°, especially 0°, with the longitudinal direction (L).
VEHICLE SEAT AND METHOD FOR FOLDING SIDE AIRBAG
A vehicle seat includes a seat back, an inflator, and a side airbag. The side airbag includes a head chamber housed along an upper frame of the seat back and configured to inflate and deploy between a shoulder belt and a head in response to supply of gas from the inflator in an event of side collision. The head chamber is housed while being folded in a seat up-and-down direction to reduce a vertical width and then rolled from a front end in a seat fore-and-aft direction.
Knee protection airbag device
A knee protection airbag device includes an airbag. When the air bag is accommodated, an occupant side wall portion and a vehicle body side wall portion are overlapped and expanded flatly and roll-folding is performed such that an upper edge side of a knee receiving portion side approaches a lower edge side of the mounting portion side, end side portions on left and right sides of the roll-folded roll folding portion are formed as folded portions which fold over a central portion near a center in a left-right direction of the roll folding portion to form a folding completed body. A joining between a first overlapping portion and a tip side part of the airbag is released when an inflation gas flows into the airbag and when a fold of a first fold is canceled and the first overlapping portion deviates from a rear area of the central portion.
Curtain airbag system of vehicle
A curtain airbag system of a vehicle is provided and omits a front or rear pillar area of a roof/side frame for a space for accommodating an airbag cushion. The airbag cushion is guided by a connection tether for a deployment direction to deploy the airbag cushion to a protection zone for an occupant. Additionally, the airbag cushion is folded in a zigzag form to expose the connection tether, thereby guiding the airbag cushion for the deployment direction and securing a deployment speed.
Folding method of far-side airbag apparatus
A folding method of a far-side airbag apparatus may include: a first folding step of folding an upper portion of an airbag sheet toward an inboard side; a second folding step of folding both widthwise sides of the airbag sheet toward an outboard side; a third folding step of folding the upper portion of the airbag sheet toward the inboard side; and a fourth folding step of roll-folding the airbag sheet.
