The invention relates to an overigniting protection device (40) for a multi-stage gas generator (10), comprising a combustion chamber limiting element (34) for limiting a combustion chamber (30) of a second ignition stage (14) of the gas generator (10) as well as an overigniting protection element (38) which is arranged on a side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30), wherein the overigniting protection element (38) covers the side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30), wherein the overigniting protection element (38) is tightly connected to the combustion chamber limiting element (34) via a mounting portion (42) and wherein the overigniting protection element (38) is substantially plate-shaped or completely covers the side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30). DEVICE FOR SECURING A GAS GENERATOR IN AN AIRBAG MODULE IN AN OSCILLATING MANNER
The invention relates to a device (18) for securing a gas generator (14) in an oscillating manner as a vibration-absorbing mass inside an airbag module (10). The invention is characterized m that a securing ring is provided for securing to the gas generator (14), said ring being open at least in sections in the radial direction by a continuous, radially outwardly directed annular gap and is provided with at least one axially oriented damping member.

A fastening ring (12) provided for fastening the gas generator (11) has at least one elastic section (14) and at least one reinforcement insert (15) for reinforcing the fastening ring (12) and securing the fastening ring (12) to the gas generator. A surface of the reinforcement insert (15) is made at least in part of plastic.
Gas generator
The present invention provides a gas generator, including an outer shell housing having a top plate, a bottom plate and a circumferential wall provided with a gas discharge port, a combustion chamber accommodating a gas generating agent, a cylindrical filter and an ignition device disposed in a cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing, the bottom surface of the cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing facing the top plate and an end surface of the opening thereof abutting against the bottom plate, a length from an upper end surface to a lower end surface of the cylindrical filter being shorter than a distance from the top plate to the bottom plate of the outer shell housing, and the cylindrical filter being disposed such that the upper end surface faces the top plate and the lower end surface faces the combustion chamber, a cup-shaped cover member which has a bottom surface, a circumferential wall and an opening, further being disposed between the cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing and the cylindrical filter.

The invention relates to an overigniting protection device (40) for a multi-stage gas generator (10), comprising a combustion chamber limiting element (34) for limiting a combustion chamber (30) of a second ignition stage (14) of the gas generator (10) as well as an overigniting protection element (38) which is arranged on a side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30), wherein the overigniting protection element (38) covers the side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30), wherein the overigniting protection element (38) is tightly connected to the combustion chamber limiting element (34) via a mounting portion (42) and wherein the overigniting protection element (38) is substantially plate-shaped or completely covers the side of the combustion chamber limiting element (34) remote from the combustion chamber (30). Furthermore, the invention relates to a second ignition stage (14) of a multi-stage gas generator, a gas generator (10) and an airbag module comprising a gas generator (10).
Gas generator
A gas generator includes: an ignition device chamber arranged at one end opening of a housing; a diffuser portion provided with a gas discharge port and arranged at another end opening; a pressurized gas chamber arranged between the ignition device chamber and the diffuser portion; a first rupturable plate closing the one end opening between the ignition device chamber and the chamber; a second rupturable plate closing the other end opening between the chamber and the diffuser portion; an igniter and a molded article of a gas generating agent accommodated in the ignition device chamber; a gas charged in the chamber; and an amount A (J/msec) of energy generated per unit time by the gas generating agent, a cross-sectional area B (cm.sup.2) of the chamber at a portion proximate to the ignition device chamber, and a density C (g/cm.sup.3) of the gas satisfy A/BC=320 to 490.

The present invention provides a gas generator, including an outer shell housing having a top plate, a bottom plate and a circumferential wall provided with a gas discharge port, a combustion chamber accommodating a gas generating agent, a cylindrical filter and an ignition device disposed in a cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing, the bottom surface of the cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing facing the top plate and an end surface of the opening thereof abutting against the bottom plate, a length from an upper end surface to a lower end surface of the cylindrical filter being shorter than a distance from the top plate to the bottom plate of the outer shell housing, and the cylindrical filter being disposed such that the upper end surface faces the top plate and the lower end surface faces the combustion chamber, a cup-shaped cover member which has a bottom surface, a circumferential wall and an opening, further being disposed between the cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing and the cylindrical filter, an outer circumferential surface of the circumferential wall of the cover member abutting against an inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical filter, the bottom surface of the ignition device chamber housing being covered, from outside, by the bottom surface of the cover member, and a gap being formed between an inner circumferential surface of the circumferential wall of the cover member and an outer circumferential surface of the circumferential wall of the ignition device chamber housing.
