Pretensioner for Retractable Shoulder Belt and Seat Belt

In an illustrative embodiment, a seat is oriented at an oblique angle with respect to a centerline of an aircraft fuselage, the seat having an Aircraft Passenger Restraint System (APRS) with a pre-tensioner and integral retractable shoulder and seat belt webbing. In an illustrative example, the ARPS may be a three-point restraint to control a seat occupant's upper body, head and torso area. In some embodiments, the ARPS may further control the forces on the lower spine and torso. In some applications, the ARPS may operate to control the Head Injury Criteria (HIC) levels for the seat occupant's head, as well as the neck twist and upper spinal forces, to meet aircraft certification requirements imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). In response to a deceleration event, the ARPS may rapidly retract the belt webbing to substantially remove slack.

Provided are a pretensioner, a retractor, and a seat belt device in which strength and slidability of a rod-shaped power transmission member may both be achieved. A pretensioner includes a ring gear on which the spool is rotatably disposed, and power transmission units for transmitting power to the ring gear in an emergency. The power transmission units includes a rod-shaped power transmission member for transmitting power to the ring gear while being plastically deformed, a tip reinforcing member disposed on a tip side of the power transmission member, a pipe for containing the power transmission member, and a gas generator disposed at an end of the pipe. The tip reinforcing member has higher strength than the power transmission member.

BELT RETRACTOR

A belt retractor having a belt reel, a safety belt which can be wound thereon to form a wound belt, a pyrotechnic belt tensioner having a drive device which is guided in a tube and can be driven to perform a drive movement, and at least one first further assembly arranged coaxially to the rotational axis of the belt reel and in series with the belt reel, a safety belt which can be wound thereon to form a wound belt, and at least one first assembly, wherein the tube has a straight linear section which extends parallel to the rotational axis of the belt reel and the longitudinal axis of the assembly and is arranged on the side of the belt reel.

PRETENSIONER, RETRACTOR, AND SEAT BELT DEVICE

Provided are a pretensioner, a retractor, and a seat belt device that can achieve weight reduction of a device by improving slidability of a power transmission member used for the pretensioner. A pretensioner includes a drive wheel for rotating the spool, and a power transmission unit for transmitting power to the drive wheel in an emergency. The power transmission unit includes a power transmission member for rotating the drive wheel, a pipe that contains the power transmission member, a gas generator for supplying a working gas into the pipe, and a housing that defines a passage for the power transmission member on an outer periphery of the drive wheel. The housing has a sliding member that is disposed at an outlet part of the pipe and that reduces frictional force between the housing and the power transmission member.

WEBBING TAKE-UP DEVICE

In a vehicle emergency, a spool of a webbing take-up device is rotated in a pull-out direction such that a main lock is displaced toward a rotation-radial direction outside of the spool and engages with a clutch gear configuring a first rotation body. Rotation of the spool in the pull-out direction is thus restricted. Also in a vehicle emergency, the first rotation body is rotated in a take-up direction of the spool such that the main lock engages with the first rotation body, and rotation force of the first rotation body is transmitted to the spool through the main lock and the spool is rotated in the take-up direction.

A belt retractor (40) having a belt reel (14), a seat belt (12) which can be wound thereon to form a belt reel, and at least one first assembly, the first assembly being arranged coaxially with the axis of rotation of the belt reel (14) and in series with the belt reel (14). The belt retractor is especially adapted for mounting inside the frame member of a motor vehicle seat.

Belt tightener with a mass body

The invention relates to a belt tightener (1) with a mass body drive for a seat belt of a motor vehicle with a force-limiting device with—a belt shaft (3) mounted rotatably in at least one opening (15) of a housing (14) that can be fastened fixedly to the vehicle, it being possible to wind up the seat belt on said shaft, —a tightener drive wheel (24) connected non-rotatably to the belt shaft (3) and having recesses (14) distributed at regular intervals over the circumference, —a chain forming the mass body drive made of loose mass bodies (19), which are guided in a tightener tube (10) and can be driven by pressure application of the tightener tube (10), wherein—the belt shaft (3) can be driven in the winding direction of the seat belt by engagement of the driven mass bodies (19) in the recesses (14) of the tightener drive wheel (24), wherein—the mounting of the belt shaft (3) in the opening (15) of the housing (14) is designed to be flexible in the radial direction.

Webbing retractor

In a present webbing retractor, when a stopper is pushed and moved by a conical portion of a moving member, the stopper abuts a moving member main body of the moving member between a rotating member and an axial direction distal end of a cylinder, and moreover, is moved toward a side of a portion of engagement of the moving member main body with first teeth and second teeth of the rotating member, while deforming the moving member main body. Due thereto, expansion, toward a side in a direction orthogonal to an axis, of the moving member main body can be suppressed.
