PEDESTRIAN DETECTION WHEN A VEHICLE IS REVERSING

Techniques and implementations pertaining to detection of moving objects, such as pedestrians, when a vehicle moves in a rearward direction are described. A method may involve identifying a region of interest when a vehicle moves in a rearward direction. The method may involve detecting a moving object in the region of interest. The method may also involve determining whether a collision with the moving object by the vehicle moving in the rearward direction is likely. The method may further involve providing a human-perceivable signal responsive to a determination that the collision is likely.

VEHICULAR CONTROL SYSTEM
20230005275 · 2023-01-05 ·

A vehicular control system includes a camera and a control having a processor that processes image data captured by the camera to determine an approaching vehicle that is approaching an intersection forward of the equipped vehicle. The system determines projected path of the equipped vehicle. Estimated time to arrival of the approaching vehicle at the intersection is determined at least in part by processing of captured image data. Responsive to determination that the equipped vehicle will complete a turn at the intersection before the estimated time to arrival elapses, the system may determine that it is safe to proceed along the projected path of travel. Responsive at least in part to determination that the equipped vehicle will not complete the turn at the intersection before the estimated time to arrival elapses, the system may determine that it is not safe to proceed along the projected path of travel.

Dynamic imaging system

A dynamic imaging system is disclosed. The dynamic imaging system may comprise one or more imager, one or more input device, a controller, and/or a display. Each imager may be operable to capture a video stream having a field of view. In some embodiments, the controller may articulate the imager or crop the field of view to change the field of view in response to signals from the one or more input devices. For example, the signal may relate to the vehicle's speed. In other embodiments, the controller may apply a warp to the field of view. The warp may be applied in response to signals from the one or more input devices. In yet other embodiments, video streams from one or more imagers may be stitched together by the controller. Further, the controller may likewise move the stitch line in response to signals from the or more input devices.

A motion detecting section detects a change in relative position relation between a subject and an image capturing section performing a rolling shutter operation. A thinning-out setting section sets a thinning-out amount of a line thinning-out operation of the image capturing section according to the detection result obtained by the motion detecting section. A recognition processing section performs subject recognition in an image obtained by the image capturing section, by using a recognizer corresponding to the thinning-out amount set by the thinning-out setting section. The change in relative position relation is detected based on motion of a moving body on which the image capturing section is mounted, an image capturing scene, an image obtained by the image capturing section, and the like. Line thinning-out is performed during the rolling shutter operation, and the thinning-out amount is set according to the detection result obtained by the motion detecting section.

Collision avoidance and/or pedestrian detection system

A collision avoidance and/or pedestrian detection system for a large passenger vehicle such as commuter bus, which includes one or more exterior and/or interior sensing devices positioned strategically around the exterior and interior of the vehicle for recording data, method for avoiding collisions and/or detecting pedestrians, and features/articles of manufacture for improving same, is described herein in various embodiments. The sensing devices may be responsive to one or more situational sensors, and may be connected to one or more interior and/or exterior warning systems configured to alert a driver inside the vehicle and/or a pedestrian outside the vehicle that a collision may be possible and/or imminent based on a path of the vehicle and/or a position of the pedestrian as detected by one or more sensing devices and/or situational sensors.

Glare and occluded view compensation for automotive and other applications

Often when there is a glare on a display screen the user may be able to mitigate the glare by tilting or otherwise moving the screen or changing their viewing position. However, when driving a car there are limited options for overcoming glares on the dashboard, especially when you are driving for a long distance in the same direction. Embodiments are directed to eliminating such glare. Other embodiments are related to mixed reality (MR) and filling in occluded areas.

A work vehicle display system utilized in piloting a work vehicle includes a display device having a display screen, a context camera mounted to the work vehicle and positioned to capture a context camera feed of the work vehicle's exterior environment, and a controller architecture. The controller architecture is configured to: (i) receive the context camera feed from the context camera; (ii) generate a visually-manipulated context view utilizing the context camera feed; and (iii) output the visually-manipulated context view to the display device for presentation on the display screen. In the process of generating the visually-manipulated context view, the controller architecture applies a dynamic distortion-perspective (D/P) modification effect to the context camera feed, while gradually adjusting a parameter of the dynamic D/P modification effect in response to changes in operator viewing preferences or in response to changes in a current operating condition of the work vehicle.

A method of assisting a driver of a vehicle with visualization of an ambient environment comprises generating a mirror image signal corresponding to a field of view of a traditional driving mirror. A surround image signal corresponding to a field of view of an ambient environment adjacent the vehicle is generated. A vehicle speed signal is generated. The mirror image signal, the surround image signal, and the vehicle speed signal are received, and at least one of a driver mirror signal and a driver surround signal is responsively produced. A video image corresponding to at least one of the driver mirror signal and the driver surround signal is selectively displayed to the driver. A frame rate of at least one of the mirror image signal and the surround image signal is adjusted by the signal processor responsive to the vehicle speed signal. A drive assist system is also provided.
