STITCHING QUALITY ASSESSMENT FOR SURROUND VIEW SYSTEMS
20230024474 · 2023-01-26 ·

Stitching of multiple images into a composite representation can be performed using a set of stitching parameters determined based, at least in part, upon a subjective stitching quality assessment value. A stitched image can be compared against its constituent images to obtain one or more objective quality metrics. These objective quality metrics can be fed, as input, to a trained classifier, which can infer a subjective quality assessment metric for the stitched (or otherwise composited) image. This subjective quality assessment metric can be used to adjust one or more compositing parameter values in order to provide at least a minimum subjective quality assessment value for composited images.

Dynamic imaging system

A dynamic imaging system is disclosed. The dynamic imaging system may comprise one or more imager, one or more input device, a controller, and/or a display. In some embodiments, the controller may articulate the imager or crop the field of view to change the field of view in response to signals from the one or more input devices. For example, the signal may relate to the vehicle's speed. In other embodiments, the controller may apply a warp to the field of view. The warp may be applied in response to signals from the one or more input devices. In yet other embodiments, video streams from one or more imagers may be stitched together by the controller. Further, the controller may likewise move the stitch line in response to signals from the or more input devices.

Night vision display device

A system and method for assisting drivers of vehicles are described. The systems and methods provide an extended view of the area surrounding the driver's vehicle while providing real-time object trajectory for objects and other vehicles that may enter the driver's reactionary zone. The system and methods capture images of the area surrounding the driver's vehicle and create a composite image of that area in real-time and using Augmented Reality (AR) create a 3-D overlay to warn the driver as objects or other vehicles enter the driver's reactionary zone so that a driver can make more informed driving decisions.

Display system and method

The present disclosure relates to a display system (1) for generating a composite view of a region behind a vehicle (V) towing a trailer (T). A first camera (C1) is provided for outputting first image data corresponding to a first image (IMG1), the first camera (C1) being configured to be mounted in a rear-facing orientation to the vehicle (V). A second camera (C2) is provided for outputting second image data corresponding to a second image (IMG2), the second camera (C2) being configured to be mounted in a rear-facing orientation to the trailer (T). An image processor (5) receives the first image data and said second image data. The image processor (5) is configured to combine said first image data and said second image data to generate composite image data corresponding to a composite image (IMG3). The present disclosure also relates to a corresponding method of generating a composite image (IMG3), and to a rig made up of a vehicle (V) and a trailer (T).

A method for correcting a camera by using a plurality of pattern members placed on the ground of a vehicle enables receiving pattern information of a plurality of pattern members by using a plurality of cameras disposed on the circumference of a vehicle being driven, calculating a first parameter on the basis of the pattern information, calculating trajectory information of the vehicle by using the pattern information, and calculating a second parameter by correcting the first parameter on the basis of the trajectory information of the vehicle.

Intelligent vehicle systems and control logic for surround view augmentation with object model recognition

Presented are intelligent vehicle systems with networked on-body vehicle cameras with camera-view augmentation capabilities, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems. A method for operating a motor vehicle includes a system controller receiving, from a network of vehicle-mounted cameras, camera image data containing a target object from a perspective of one or more cameras. The controller analyzes the camera image to identify characteristics of the target object and classify these characteristics to a corresponding model collection set associated with the type of target object. The controller then identifies a 3D object model assigned to the model collection set associated with the target object type. A new “virtual” image is generated by replacing the target object with the 3D object model positioned in a new orientation. The controller commands a resident vehicle system to execute a control operation using the new image.
