Method and system for assisting drivers in locating objects that may move into their vehicle path
11529968 · 2022-12-20 ·

A system and method for assisting drivers of vehicles are described. The systems and methods provide an extended view of the area surrounding the driver's vehicle while providing real-time object trajectory for objects and other vehicles that may enter the driver's reactionary zone. The system and methods capture images of the area surrounding the driver's vehicle and create a composite image of that area in real-time and using Augmented Reality (AR) create a 3-D overlay to warn the driver as objects or other vehicles enter the driver's reactionary zone so that a driver can make more informed driving decisions.

Electronic mirror system for vehicle

A display control device displays, on an electronic inner mirror, a composite image composited by performing image processing on a rear image captured by a rear camera and rear lateral images captured by an outer camera unit such that the rear image and the rear lateral images become a continuous image. A subject vehicle virtual image superimposition display unit of the display control device generates a virtual image of a subject vehicle virtually showing a subject vehicle and displays the virtual image of the subject vehicle superimposed on the composite image. A subject vehicle travel trajectory superimposition display unit of the display control device generates a virtual image of travel trajectory, which extends from left and right rear wheels toward the rear of the vehicle in the composite image, and displays the virtual image of travel trajectory superimposed on the composite image.

Display system

A display system of the present disclosure forms an AR route by shifting node information included in road map data to a lane on which a subject vehicle is to travel on the basis of lane information. Thus, it is possible to display the AR route which matches a shape of a route on which the subject vehicle is to travel without providing a feeling of strangeness while resolving inconvenience that the AR route is largely displaced from the route on which the subject vehicle is to travel at positions such as an intersection and a branch point, where a plurality of roads intersect.

Vehicle electronic mirror system

A rearward camera of a vehicle electronic mirror system images a rearward view of a vehicle, and a lateral rearward camera unit images each of right and left lateral rearward views of the vehicle. A control device compresses at least one of a rearward view picture after imaging by the rearward camera and right and left lateral rearward view pictures after imaging by the lateral rearward camera unit, at least in a vehicle-width direction, and performs display on an inner mirror display. The control device changes the compression ratio of the picture in the control device, depending on at least one of a state and peripheral situation of the vehicle. Accordingly, when a vehicle rearward side including lateral rearward sides contains a site requiring an easy distance-sense grasp, it is possible to easily grasp distance sense by decreasing the compression ratio of the picture corresponding to the site.

Parking assistance device and method

A parking assistance device includes a camera configured to capture a rear-view image of a vehicle, a plurality of sensors configured to sense an obstacle located around the vehicle, a controller configured to generate a parking guide line to guide the vehicle into a target parking space and assist a driver of the vehicle to park based on a separation distance between a predicted entrance trajectory corresponding to a steering angle of the vehicle and the parking guide line, and a display configured to match and display the rear-view image of the vehicle with the parking guide line.

Tow assist apparatus
11491916 · 2022-11-08 · ·

A tow assist apparatus includes a hardware processor to: detect, at a predetermined period, an angle of tilt of a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle towing the towed vehicle, the tilt arising when the towing vehicle moves backward; calculate angle change information representing a temporal change in the detected angle; and output an alarm when the angle change information exceeds a threshold.

Method for providing an image representation of at least part of an environment of a vehicle, computer program product and driver assistance system
11491914 · 2022-11-08 · ·

The invention relates to a method for providing an image representation (15) of an environment (7) of a vehicle (1), wherein the environment (7) of the vehicle (1) is captured at least partly, an image representation (15) of at least one first part (10a) of the captured environment (7) is provided within a defined viewport (10) from a defined perspective (11), wherein the image representation (15) includes a vehicle representation (14) representing the vehicle (1), and wherein the image representation (15) is displayed on a display device (12). Further, when providing the image representation (15) at least one second part (16a) of the captured environment (7) is represented in form of a mirrored image (18) of the at least one second part (16a) of the environment (7) on a defined region (17, 19, 20) of the vehicle representation (14).

Image presentation for vehicles with multiple cameras

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a camera monitor system providing areas of importance to a driver, to a corresponding vehicle and to a method for operating such a camera monitor system comprising at least two separate cameras arranged to record camera views of the surrounding of the vehicle being different for each camera and at least one monitor with a monitor screen suitably arranged to provide the recorded camera views on the screen at least to the driver of the vehicle, wherein the provided camera views and/or an arrangement of the different recorded camera views on the monitor screen depend(s) on a status of the vehicle, wherein a control unit is adapted to observe the status of the vehicle and to alter the arrangement of the camera views provided on the screen in dependence on the observed status of the vehicle.

VEHICULAR VISION SYSTEM

A vehicular vision system includes a rear backup camera and a controller having an image processor. A video display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. With the vehicular vision system operating in a standard viewing mode, image data captured by the rear backup camera is processed to provide video images representative of a standard view rearward of the vehicle that is within the field of view of the rear backup camera. With the vehicular vision system operating in a cross-traffic viewing mode, image data captured by the rear backup camera is processed at the image processor to provide video images derived from the processed captured image data that are representative of a wider angle view rearward of the vehicle that has a wider angle view than the standard view rearward of the vehicle.

System and method for guiding reversing of a vehicle toward a trailer hitch

A method for guiding reversing of a vehicle includes displaying, via a video display screen of the vehicle, and responsive to the vehicle being shifted into reverse gear, video images derived from image data captured by a rear backup camera of the vehicle. Responsive to actuation of an input by the driver of the vehicle, an alignment overlay is generated and electronically superimposed on the displayed video images to assist the driver in reversing the vehicle toward a trailer hitch of a trailer. The alignment overlay extends longitudinally rearward from a central region of the vehicle displayed in the displayed video images. The input is an actuatable input other than the vehicle being shifted into reverse gear. The alignment overlay is adjusted responsive to change in steering angle of the vehicle while the driver is executing the reversing maneuver of the vehicle.
