DUPLICATED WIRELESS TRANSCEIVERS ASSOCIATED WITH A VEHICLE TO RECEIVE AND SEND SENSITIVE INFORMATION
20180013211 · 2018-01-11 ·

A vehicle is provided that comprises two or more radio frequency (RF) antennas and two or more RF transceivers to communicate wirelessly sensitive information associated with a user of the vehicle (the two or more RF antennas being at different physical locations on an exterior of the vehicle). The vehicle determines which one of the two or more RF antennas is receiving a strongest signal from a common signal source, selects a first RF transceiver associated with the RF antenna with the strongest signal to send the sensitive information associated with the user to the common signal source, and sends the sensitive information associated with the user to the first RF transceiver for transmission to the common signal source.

APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VEHICLE ACCESS AND FUNCTION CONTROL UTILIZING A PORTABLE DEVICE
20180009416 · 2018-01-11 ·

A system for providing dynamic access to a vehicle via a plurality of devices. A device and/or a server of an authentication network stored fob data relating to one or more key fobs linked to the vehicle, and device data that includes data relating to one or more devices linked to the key fob that are authorized to access the vehicle. The vehicle receives an access request indicating that a new device is requesting access to the vehicle, whereupon a challenge may be transmitted to one or more of the authorized devices. The one or more devices may respond, granting access to vehicle functions. The vehicle and/or authentication network generate a secure fob key and access limitations based on the response and transmit the secure fob key to the new device. Profile templates may be used to set and control vehicle access and functions.

Driver personalization for vehicle-sharing fleet

Methods and systems are disclosed and include determining, using a processor configured to execute instructions stored in a nontransitory computer-readable medium, whether a user is authenticated to operate a vehicle-sharing vehicle. The method also includes, in response to determining the user is authenticated: (i) obtaining, using the processor, a height value, wherein the height value is associated with a vehicle-sharing account of the user and is displayed on an identification card of the user; (ii) determining, using the processor, whether a position of a vehicle control mechanism needs to be adjusted based on the height value; and (iii) in response to determining that the position of the vehicle control mechanism needs to be adjusted, adjusting, using the processor, the position of the vehicle control mechanism based on the height value.

System and method of unlocking a vehicle based on visual domain data and wireless domain data

A method of unlocking a vehicle of a user having a handheld device based on visual domain and radio frequency (RF) domain technologies is provided. The method comprises activating an on-board apparatus of the vehicle when the handheld device of the user is within a threshold distance from the vehicle. The method further comprises comparing a visual domain position of the user based on visual domain data with an RF domain position of the user based on RF domain data by a first equation, |d.sub.visual.sup.t.sup.i(X)−d.sub.RF.sup.t.sup.i(X)|<ε.sub.d and a second equation, |φ.sub.visual.sup.t.sup.i(X)−φ.sub.RF.sup.t.sup.i(X)|<ε.sub.φ. The method further comprises validating the user when the first and second equations are true and unlocking the vehicle after the user is validated.

Method and apparatus key-centric portable vehicle state settings

A system includes a processor configured to detect a vehicle key and display a key identification on a vehicle display. The processor is also configured to receive a request to export vehicle system and state settings to a key memory. The processor is further configured to access a plurality of predefined settings, designated as key-storable settings, from a vehicle CAN bus, responsive to the request, and transmit the predefined settings to the key, including instructions to store the settings to the key memory.

Key information sharing system, delivery device and user terminal

A key information sharing system includes a delivery device that delivers key information as first information for a control device equipped in an object and a user terminal that receives the first information delivered from the delivery device. The delivery device adds second information that allows the first information to be transferred between the user terminal and a third-party terminal without the delivery device, to the first information to be delivered to the user terminal. The user terminal transmits the first information to the third-party terminal in response to an input operation by a user, when the user terminal receives the first information to which the second information has been added.

END-TO-END ACCOMMODATION FUNCTIONALITY FOR PASSENGERS OF FULLY AUTONOMOUS SHARED OR TAXI-SERVICE VEHICLES

A system, for implementation with an autonomous vehicle, includes a hardware-based processing unit, a human-machine interface, and a non-transitory storage device including a registration module that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit performs passenger-registration functions. The functions include obtaining passenger registration data indicating multiple identifications corresponding respectively to multiple passengers registered to use an autonomous-vehicle driving service, and determines whether each of multiple persons attempting to ride in the autonomous vehicle is one of the passengers registered for the autonomous-vehicle driving service, yielding respective authentications regarding persons determined to be one for the passengers registered for the service. The storage device also includes a vehicle-passenger communication module that, when executed, initiates intra-vehicle communication with passengers authenticated by way of the human-machine interface, and in some cases communicates with authenticated passengers at least intermittently from start to end of the autonomous ride, and in a personalized manner.
