System and method of automatically activating windshield wiper of a vehicle

A system and method of automatically activating a windshield wiper system of a vehicle having a front windshield with a front wiper and a rear windshield with a rear wiper are provided. The method comprises assessing at least one windshield classification of road conditions based on original information and capturing a front image of the front windshield, a rear image of the rear windshield, and an environment image of the environment. The method further comprises classifying the images to define a first windshield class. The method further comprises determining a front windshield perception, a rear windshield perception, and an environment perception of the first windshield class to define a first combination of detection sources. The method further comprises fusing the front windshield perception, the rear windshield perception and the environment perception, defining a first front probability of the first windshield class. The method further comprises activating the front wiper when the first front probability is greater than a front threshold.

Liftgate reinforcement arrangements

A liftgate structure having a structural inner panel with an outside surface and an inner surface having a lower perimeter surface area extending across substantially the entire width of the structural inner panel. The structural inner panel includes a wiper motor housing recess formed on the inner surface. A plurality of brackets are connected to the outside surface of the structural inner panel, where each of the brackets has at least one friendly hole. The liftgate structure further includes a tether having 2 ends each having at least one over molded retainer for connecting the tether to a wiper motor housing positioned within the wiper motor housing recess of the structural inner panel. Additionally the tether is positioned through each of the at least one friendly holes of the plurality of brackets.

VEHICLE REAR WIPER AND WASHER ACTIVATION

Methods, systems, and vehicles are provided for controlling rear wiper units and rear washer units for a rear windshield of a vehicle. In accordance with one embodiment, the vehicle includes, in addition to the rear windshield, the rear washer unit, and the rear windshield, a control system. The control system includes a detection unit and a processor. The detection unit is coupled to a single input device onboard the vehicle. The detection unit is configured to detect a user's engagement of the single input device. The processor is coupled to the detection unit. The processor is configured to at least facilitate automatically controlling the rear wiper unit and the rear washer unit based on the detecting of the user's engagement of the single input device.

Rear windscreen wiper device

The windscreen wiper device includes a wiper element which is made of a flexible material and a carrier which operably supports the wiper element and biases the wiper element into a pre-curved position. A base is engaged with the carrier and at least one connector piece is releasably connectable with the base. The base includes a pair of holding elements which wrap around opposite lateral side edges of the carrier and a pair of laterally spaced side walls. The connector piece includes a pair of legs. A pair of projections are disposed in at least one of the side walls of the base and the legs of the connector piece and a pair of recesses are disposed on at least one of the side walls of the base and the legs of the connector piece for snappingly receiving the projections to releasably attach the connector piece with the base.

Windshield wiper module

A wiper module assembly for a vehicle liftgate having an inner panel with a spoiler formed as a one-piece part of the inner panel. An outer panel of the liftgate is connected to the inner panel to form an exterior surface of the liftgate. A cavity is formed in part of the spoiler and receives a carrier forming a removable module connected to the cavity of the vehicle liftgate. The carrier includes a wiper, motor and drive assembly for operating a wiper for a window on the liftgate.

DOOR-EQUIPPED VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE
