INTELLIGENT ADVANCED ENGINE BRAKING SYSTEM

A system and method for slowing a vehicle. Road conditions around the vehicle are monitored, and determined if those road conditions are hazardous. An engine control unit is informed of the hazardous road conditions and alters the operation of the engine control unit in response to the hazardous road conditions. When an operator of the vehicle desires to slow the vehicle down, an indication is received indicating the intent to slow the vehicle down. The vehicle is then slowed based upon the altered operation of the engine control unit by applying a vacuum to increase a manifold vacuum of the engine.

Wet friction disc

A wet friction disc includes a lubrication groove and a plurality of lands defined by the lubrication groove. The lubrication groove has a plurality of circumferential groove portions that extends in a circumferential direction and has a predetermined groove width in a radial direction, and a plurality of intersecting groove portions that extends in directions intersecting the circumferential direction. At least some of the circumferential groove portions have an arc shape such that an end in the circumferential direction is located adjacent to one of the lands in the circumferential direction and that the groove width is entirely contained within a range in the radial direction spanned by that land.

A diff-lock operation shaft 50 is supported by a case 11 in such a manner as to be rotatable around an axis P1 of the diff-lock operation shaft 50 and operates a diff-lock section 48 to a lock position A2 by being rotated, and a first coil spring 51 is wound around the outer surface of the diff-lock operation shaft 50 concentrically with the diff-lock operation shaft 50, and is linked at one end portion 51b to the diff-lock operation shaft 50 and at another end portion 51a to linking members 55 and 56. The first coil spring 51 is twisted around the axis P1 via the linking members 55 and 56 by the manual operation tool 58 being operated, and the diff-lock operation shaft 50 is rotated via the first coil spring 51.

Vehicle

A vehicle includes an engine, a front frame, a rear frame, an intermediate frame, a front propeller shaft, a rear propeller shaft, and a wet oiling brake. A pair of right and left front lower arms are swingably mounted to the front frame. A pair of right and left rear lower arms are swingably mounted to the rear frame. The intermediate frame is located between the front frame and the rear frame. The front propeller shaft extends forward from the engine and the rear propeller shaft extends rearward from the engine. The wet oiling brake is located within a region defined by the intermediate frame in the front-rear direction and brakes a rotation of the front propeller shaft.

Hydraulic transaxle

A hydraulic transaxle facilitates mounting a parking brake unit which requires no link mechanism and is compact. The parking brake unit includes a brake rotor provided on a rotation shaft and a locking member being displaceable between a first position where the brake rotor is locked and a second position where the brake rotor is unlocked. The locking member includes a locking portion which is engaged in a recess formed in the brake rotor that locks the brake rotor in the first position, and a non-locking portion which is placed at a position corresponding to the recess and which separates from the brake rotor in the second position. The hydraulic transaxle further includes an oil-supply mechanism capable of displacing the locking member to the second position.
