A system and a method of improving a braking performance during a failure of a brake-by-wire (BBW) device, includes BBW devices including electro-mechanical brakes provided for respective wheels of a vehicle and independently performing braking, and the BBW devices including controllers electrically connected to the electro-mechanical brakes, and the system includes a steer-by-wire controller configured for controlling front wheels through an electronic signal and a rear wheel steering (RWS) controller configured for controlling steering of rear wheels such that a rear wheel steering angle is to be controlled in the same or an antiphase of a front wheel steering angle, wherein when one of the controllers fails, at least one of the steer-by-wire controller and the RWS controller is configured to control steering based on whether a driver's required braking force exceeds a maximum braking force which may be generated by any one of the front and rear wheels.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR STABILIZING A MOTOR VEHICLE
A device for stabilizing a vehicle after a collision against a lateral carriageway boundary, includes a lane recognition system, with which information relating to the course of the lane is determined or detected. A collision detection unit identifies a collision of the vehicle against the lateral lane carriageway boundary on the basis of signals from at least one sensor or on the basis of a driving state variable. The device also includes a steering actuator for steering a steering system and a brake actuator for controlling one or more wheel brakes. A target path determination unit determines a target path for the vehicle on the basis of the course of the lane determined or detected before or at the time of the collision. A controller guides the vehicle onto the target path and/or stabilizes the vehicle via a steering intervention and/or individual wheel brake interventions.
Steering systems and methods using active braking
A differentially steered vehicle includes brakes on the powered wheels which are applied via a controller according to different methods to inhibit freewheeling during turns and improve steering responsiveness and stability. The methods include applying braking force to the wheel on the inside of a turn in response to the rate of turn as indicated by the position of the steering control, to the pressure differential across the hydraulic motors driving the wheels and the rotational speed of the wheels.

Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that mitigate hard-braking events. An example apparatus includes a world generator to generate a deep learning model to identify and categorize an object in a proximity of a vehicle, a data analyzer to determine a danger level associated with the object, the danger level indicative of a likelihood of a collision between the vehicle and the object, a vehicle response determiner to determine, based on the danger level, a response of the vehicle to avoid a collision with the object, and an instruction generator to transmit instructions to a steering system or a braking system of the vehicle based on the determined vehicle response.
DRIVER DIRECTIONAL CONTROL VIA THE STEERING WHEEL DURING DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING AS STEER-BY-WIRE FALLBACK
A number of illustrative variations may include a system and method of using vehicle brakes to steer a vehicle where steer-by-wire steering systems have failed. The system may include supplying varying brake pressure, as needed, to different vehicle wheels to steer the vehicle. The system may include supplying engine system commands to maintain vehicle speed or acceleration such that in the event of steering system failure, a vehicle may continue to operate safely without effecting driver input.

FLUIDIC CONTROL SYSTEM
A fluidic control system (1) for controlling a vehicle, which includes a controller (2) and a closed fluidic circuit. The circuit includes a pump (3) for pressurizing fluid in the circuit, valve means (40, 50, 60), an actuator (4, 5, 6) and a precharge accumulator (7). The valve means (40, 50, 60) is fluidly connected to the inlet and outlet of the pump (3) and the actuator (4, 6) is fluidly connected to the valve means (40, 50, 60) for selectively receiving pressurized fluid therefrom. The precharge accumulator (7) includes a movable member (73, FIG. 2) that describes a variable volume (71) fluidly connected to the circuit between the valve means (40, 50, 60) and the inlet of the pump (3). The system (1) also includes a sensor (70) for determining the position of the movable member (73) for estimating the quantity of fluid and/or detecting an abnormal pressure variation within the circuit.
AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) BASED ON VEHICLE TURN STATE
A method of implementing autonomous emergency braking (AEB) for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), the method includes receiving one or more first inputs and identifying one or more targets external to a host vehicle based on the one or more first inputs. The method further includes receiving one or more second inputs related to a turning status of the host vehicle and detecting a U-turn state associated with the host vehicle based on the one or more second inputs. The AEB algorithm may be modified in response to the detected U-turn state, wherein the AEB algorithm initiates an AEB event as necessary to avoid collisions with the one or more identified targets.
VEHICLE SYSTEM HAVING AN ESC-FAULT-TOLERANT BRAKING SYSTEM
The disclosure relates to a vehicle system for a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, that includes an electronically controllable pneumatic braking system, and an electronically controllable steering device. The electronically controllable pneumatic braking system has a redundant control unit, which controls the brake circuits in the event of a failure of an electronic stability control of the braking system during travel. In the event of the failure of the electronic stability control during travel, the redundant control unit performs axle-wise control of the front axle with a front axle redundancy brake pressure and/or of the rear axle with a rear axle redundancy brake pressure and the electronically controllable steering device carries out laterally stabilizing steering interventions in order to keep the vehicle in a tolerance corridor of a predefined target trajectory of the vehicle.
