HYBRID VEHICLE SPEED AND TORQUE CONTROL

Aspects of the present invention relate to a method and to a control system for controlling an electric traction motor of a vehicle, the control system comprising one or more controllers, wherein the control system is configured to: limit a rate of change of torque requested from the electric traction motor for changing speed towards a speed target, in dependence on a lash crossing protection rate limiter; and upon removal of the limit prior to the speed reaching the speed target, inhibit initial increase of a torque requested from the electric traction motor for changing speed towards the speed target.

VEHICLE IDLING STOP CONTROL METHOD AND VEHICLE IDLING STOP CONTROL DEVICE

A vehicle idling stop control device has switches that detect an operation of opening a driver's door and an unbuckling of a driver's seat belt as disembarkation operations by a driver. When a disembarkation operation performed by the driver is detected during an idling stop, the idling stop is cancelled and the engine is restarted upon detecting a disembarkation operation performed by a driver during the idling stop. Also, restarting of the idling stop is prevented due to ending of the disembarkation operation performed by the driver until after the vehicle starts traveling. Thus, unnecessary automatic stopping and automatic restarting of the engine are thereby avoided when the vehicle sets off without the driver actually exiting the vehicle.

VEHICLE AND OBSTACLE DETECTION DEVICE

A vehicle sets a first determination region of a first obstacle and a second determination region, on the basis of a position of the first obstacle. The second determination region is located at a position farther than the first determination region. A reliability of the second obstacle is set to a first reliability in a case where a position of a second obstacle falls outside the first determination region and falls outside the second determination region. The reliability of the second obstacle is set to a second reliability higher than the first reliability in a case where the position of the second obstacle falls within the first determination region or falls within the second determination region. Braking is applied to the vehicle body and/or acceleration of the vehicle body is suppressed, on the basis of the reliability of the second obstacle and the position of the second obstacle.

System and Method for MHSG Failure Diagnosis of Mild Hybrid Vehicle

An embodiment system for mild hybrid starter and generator (MHSG) failure diagnosis of a mild hybrid vehicle includes a data detection part configured to detect data for determining whether to activate a catalyst, and a controller configured to determine whether there is an MHSG failure using a deviation between a required torque and an actual operating torque of an MHSG after determining whether catalyst activation is needed and whether to start a stage of the MHSG failure diagnosis based on the data detected by the data detection part.

INTELLIGENT ADVANCED ENGINE BRAKING SYSTEM

A system and method for slowing a vehicle. Road conditions around the vehicle are monitored, and determined if those road conditions are hazardous. An engine control unit is informed of the hazardous road conditions and alters the operation of the engine control unit in response to the hazardous road conditions. When an operator of the vehicle desires to slow the vehicle down, an indication is received indicating the intent to slow the vehicle down. The vehicle is then slowed based upon the altered operation of the engine control unit by applying a vacuum to increase a manifold vacuum of the engine.

The embodiments disclose a method including separating kinetic speed from energy using a transmission platform, directing energy in the kinetic form at a predetermined speed from 0 to 100%, employing the transmission platform with fewer pieces to increase overall efficiency at a lower cost to produce, and integrating the transmission platform with combustion engines and electric motors to achieve more efficiency and greater performance.

HYBRID DETERMINISTIC OVERRIDE OF PROBABILISTIC ADVANCED DRIVING ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS)

A hybrid deterministic override to cloud based probabilistic advanced driver assistance systems. Under default driving conditions, an ego vehicle is controlled by a probabilistic controller in a cloud. An overall gap between the ego vehicle and a leading vehicle is divided into an emergency collision gap and a driver specified gap. The vehicle sensors monitor the overall gap. When the gap between the ego vehicle and the leading vehicle is less than or equal to the emergency collision gap, a deterministic controller of the ego vehicle overrides the cloud based probabilistic controller to control the braking and acceleration of the ego vehicle.
