A device for reinforcing, sealing, or damping a structural element in a motor vehicle including a support which has multiple cells, wherein each cell surrounds a cavity. Each cavity is at least partially delimited by walls in each direction, wherein each cell has an extension in length, height, and width between 5 mm and 100 mm. An outer surface of the support can be connected to the structural element by an adhesive.
CARRIER WITH LOCALIZED FIBROUS INSERT AND METHODS
A structural reinforcement for an article including a carrier that includes: (i) a mass of polymeric material having an outer surface; and (is) at least one consolidated fibrous insert having an outer surface and including at least one elongated fiber arrangement having a plurality of ordered fibers arranged in a predetermined manner. The fibrous insert is envisioned to adjoin the mass of the polymeric material in a predetermined location for carrying a predetermined load that is subjected upon the predetermined location (thereby effectively providing localized reinforcement to that predetermined location). The fibrous insert and the mass of polymeric material are of compatible materials, structures or both, for allowing the fibrous insert to be at least partially joined to the mass of the polymeric material. Disposed upon at least a portion of the carrier will be a mass of activatable material.
Reinforcement element
A reinforcement element has a carrier having a longitudinal axis and elongate opening extending in the axis direction. The reinforcement element has an insert element having a longitudinal axis constructed to be arranged in the elongate opening. The insert element has first and second portions. The first portions are parallel with a first plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in this first plane. The second portions are parallel with a second plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in the second plane. The reinforcement element has a first adhesive which can be arranged on the carrier outer side and on a first group of insert element first portions and to bond the carrier and insert element in the structural element. The reinforcement element has a second adhesive which can be arranged on a second group of insert element first portions and to bond the insert element in the carrier.
Interlocking frame system and components therefor
A structural assembly for a recreational vehicle includes a first structural frame member and a second structural frame member with a side wall having a slot for receiving the side wall of the first structural frame member through a notch formed in the side wall and upper wall of the first structural frame member. The upper wall of the second structural frame member is located in the notch when the second structural frame member is engaged with the side wall of the first structural frame member with the slot.
Vehicle body reinforcement structure
A vehicle body reinforcement structure includes an elongated hollow structure formed by jointing an outer panel and an inner panel with each other, and a reinforcement member configured to partition the hollow structure into a lower closed cross section and an upper closed cross section. At inside of at least one of the lower closed cross section and the upper closed cross section, at least a pair of bulkheads extending so as to cross the closed cross section are disposed so as to be separated with each other in a direction in which the closed cross section is extending. A space between the pair of bulkheads is made as a filler chamber which is filled with filler. A filling opening for the filler is provided on the inner panel so that the filling opening is in communication with the filler chamber.
Carrier with localized fibrous insert and methods
A structural reinforcement for an article including a carrier that includes: (i) a mass of polymeric material having an outer surface; and (ii) at least one consolidated fibrous insert (14) having an outer surface and including at least one elongated fiber arrangement having a plurality of ordered fibers arranged in a predetermined manner. The fibrous insert is envisioned to adjoin the mass of the polymeric material in a predetermined location for carrying a predetermined load that is subjected upon the predetermined location (thereby effectively providing localized reinforcement to that predetermined location). The fibrous insert and the mass of polymeric material are of compatible materials, structures or both, for allowing the fibrous insert to be at least partially joined to the mass of the polymeric material. Disposed upon at least a portion of the carrier may be a mass of activatable material.
EXPANSION ELEMENT
A sheet-like textile is used for a controlled expansion of an expansion element on a structural element in a vehicle body. The sheet-like textile is covered with an expandable material on both sides. The expansion of the expansion element in a direction perpendicular to the sheet-like textile is at least 15% greater than what it would be for an expansion element without a sheet-like textile.
Thermally expandable compositions comprising urea derivatives
The present application relates to a thermally expandable composition containing at least one peroxide cross-linking polymer, at least one peroxide and at least one endothermic, chemical blowing agent, the blowing agent comprising at least one solid, optionally functionalized, polycarboxylic acid or the salt thereof and at least one urea derivative according to the formula (I) as defined herein; as well as shaped bodies containing the composition and to a method for sealing and filling voids in components, for strengthening or reinforcing components, in particular hollow components, and for bonding mobile components using shaped bodies of this type.
Reinforcing element
A reinforcing element for reinforcing structural elements in vehicles includes: a support having at least one reservoir, which has an outlet opening; an adhesive, which is arranged in the reservoir; and a dispensing element having a separating element and a propulsion element; wherein, when the propulsion element is actuated, the separating element is moved through the reservoir, with the result that the adhesive is dispensed from the reservoir through the outlet opening.
