20230023891 · 2023-01-26 ·

The disclosure relates to an apparatus for pressing a rack onto a pinion, with a pressure piece. The pressure piece being arranged within a housing and to be displaceable in an axial direction of a center longitudinal axis. A bearing element is fixed on the housing in the axial direction with respect to the center longitudinal axis. A prestressing element acts in the axial direction. The pressure piece is loaded by the prestressing element which is arranged between the pressure piece and the bearing element with a prestressing force in the axial direction with respect to the center longitudinal axis and directed away from the bearing element. An adjusting ring which is arranged between the bearing element and the pressure piece. At least two inclined faces of the adjusting ring and an adjusting section bear against one another. In order to be able to reduce the production outlay and/or realize a more compact overall design, a force application disk is arranged between the adjusting ring and the adjusting section.

Damping Stopper

A damping stopper is interposed between two members axially displaced relative to each other and is provided with an elastic body which, when the interval between the two members decreases, is axially compressed by the two members and expands radially outward. In the elastic body, a second member suppressing the expansion is located in one axial region and attached to the outer periphery. When axially compressed by the two members, the elastic body expands while receiving resistance by the second member. The expanding elastic body contacts the side wall of one of the two members.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING STEERING DEVICE

A cylindrical part of a rack retainer accommodation part and an adjust screw are caulked such that a plastic deformation region by caulking straddles both a female screw part of the cylindrical part and a male screw part of the adjust screw, and the adjust screw is loosened to a point where a set load that is a force by which the rack retainer urges a rack bar falls within a predetermined range. After the set load adjusting step, the caulking step is not performed again, and fluctuations in the set load associated with the impact of caulking work after the set load adjusting step can be suppressed. Thus, it is possible to suppress fluctuations in the urging force of the rack retainer applied to the rack bar caused by caulking work which stops the rotation between the rack retainer accommodation part and the adjust screw.

A rack housing has a concave portion first inclined surface 45 on the inner side surface of an engaging concave portion located on the opening side that is inclined in a direction toward the back side while going outward in the radial direction. The rack bush has a convex portion first inclined surface on the outer side surface of an engaging convex portion that faces the concave portion first inclined surface, and that is inclined in a direction toward the back side while going outward in the radial direction. The convex portion first inclined surface is pressed outward in the radial direction against the concave portion first inclined surface, and the other outer side surface of the engaging convex portion facing the back side is pressed in the axial direction against the other inner side surface of the engaging concave portion facing the opening side.

Method for using ultrasound to lock a plastic plug that plugs a steering box

A method includes a rotation locking step during which the rotation of the threaded hub about the central axis is blocked by heating a portion of the plug to soften, then by forcing the softened thermoplastic material to penetrate into, and then solidify in, a female cavity hollowed in the wall of the orifice to constitute a male member which fits into the female cavity. The female cavity forms, against the action of the male member, a guiding end stop preventing the male member, and therefore the hub, from rotating about the central axis to oppose any rotary screwing/unscrewing of the plug and maintaining a degree of freedom in axial translation along the central axis of the male member within the female cavity, so as not to impede a sliding of the hub and of its screw thread along the central axis against the wall.
