20220033235 · 2022-02-03 ·

A sea vessel (1), such as a tugboat or a fishing vessel, including a hydraulic winch (10) connected to a hydraulic system (100), and at least one main engine with a main engine crankshaft (22) connected to a propeller or a thruster. The hydraulic system (100) comprising: a first, hydraulically powered genset (106) including a hydraulic motor and a generator, at least one hydraulic pump (105) connected to said crankshaft (22). The hydraulic pump (105) is configured for driving said first genset (106) to generate electricity, and the hydraulic pump (105) is configured for driving said hydraulic winch (10), and first valve element (102) are used for selectively directing hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic winch (10) or to said first genset (106) of said hydraulic system.

Hydraulic Charging System with Electronic Power Limiting And Load Balancing

A marine hydraulic system and method of use for reducing cyclic loading of the pump(s) and motor(s) and an amount of accumulator storage required in a hydraulic system. A closed loop logic controller comprising at least one control algorithm for each pump/motor pair utilized in a single hydraulic system is utilized to reduce load fluctuations on the motors, allow the use of common pressure compensated, variable displacement (VDH) pumps, reduce the number and/or volume of system accumulators and equalize wear throughout the system.

A system and method of using accumulator(s) to generate electrical power in a marine environment. The system includes a first power source coupled to an electric machine coupled to a hydraulic pump coupled to an accumulator. The first power source is a power supply operable to convert AC to DC, and the accumulator is a high-capacity hydraulic energy storage device. The electric machine configured to operate as an electric motor driving the hydraulic pump in a first direction charges the accumulator. The charged accumulator configured to drive the hydraulic pump in a second direction driving the electric machine configured to operate as an electric generator to generate a second power source. The hydraulic/electric power system also includes a first controller configured to operate a first electrical load powered by the first power source and a second controller configured to operate a second electrical load powered by the second power source.
