Systems and methods for controlling power generation and transmission output speed for marine propulsion devices
A method for controlling a marine propulsion device having an engine rotatably engaged with a transmission via a clutch, and rotatably engaged with a charging device for charging a battery. The method includes measuring a voltage of the battery and comparing the voltage to a minimum threshold. The method further includes increasing a speed of the engine when the voltage is below the minimum threshold, and also increasing a slip of the clutch when the speed of the engine is increased in response to the voltage being below the minimum threshold.
Operation of an Unmanned Productive Platform
An unmanned production platform comprises apparatus for producing and processing hydrocarbons from a subsea reservoir. A storage vessel is provided in combination with and proximate to the platform, typically just outside the safety zone. The storage vessel provides storage for hydrocarbons produced at the platform and further provides a utility for use at the platform, such as chemical storage, liquid desiccant regeneration and/or seawater treatment. Typically, the unmanned production platform comprises no utilities and all utilities require for production are provided by the storage vessel.
Aquatic Invasive Species Control Apparatuses and Methods for Watercraft
Wakeboats that include an aquatic invasive species control apparatus are provided. These wakeboats can include: a wakeboat with a hull; at least one throughhull fitting in the hull of the wakeboat; an irradiation chamber in fluid communication with the at least one throughhull fitting, the irradiation chamber having a radiation source; and at least one water destination aboard the wakeboat. Methods for irradiating invasive aquatic species aboard a wakeboat are also provided. The methods can include: receiving water from outside the wakeboat hull; and irradiating water aboard the wakeboat prior to discharging the water.

The invention relates to a hybrid power system (1). System (1) has an internal combustion engine (2), a gear box (3) having an input (4) connectable to the engine and an output shaft (5) to drive a vehicle, a first power drive and take off (10) releasably connectable to the gear box input, a second power drive and take off (30) releasably connectable to the gear box output, at least one motor/generator (21,41) connected the first and/or second power drive and take off, a connecting clutch (50) to releasable connecting the first and second power drive and take off, and a battery (60) to power or be charged by the or each motor generator.
MARINE PROPULSION AND GENERATOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A marine propulsion system for marine vessel includes at least one battery configured to power a vessel load, a plurality of marine drives, and a control system. Each of the plurality of marine drives includes an engine, an alternator driven by the engine to charge the battery, and a propulsor selectively driven by the engine to propel the marine vessel. Each of the plurality of marine drives is configured to operate in a propulsion mode in which the engine is operated to rotate the propulsor to propel the marine vessel in a generator mode in which the engine is operated to charge the battery while the marine vessel remains stationary. The control system is configured to select a subset of the plurality of marine drives and then to operate the subset of marine drives in the generator mode to charge the battery while the marine vessel remains stationary.
MARINE PROPULSION AND GENERATOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A marine propulsion system for a marine vessel includes an engine effectuating rotation of an output shaft, multiple batteries configured to power a marine vessel load, and an alternator having a rotor that is driven into rotation by the output shaft and that outputs a charge current to the batteries. The marine propulsion system further includes a control system configured to operate the engine in a propulsion mode and a generator mode. Upon receiving a generator mode command to start the engine in the generator mode, the control system operates the engine in accordance with a set of generator parameters to charge the batteries while a shift system of the marine propulsion system is locked in a neutral position such that the propulsor cannot be engaged and the marine vessel remains stationary.
A PERMANENT MAGNET MACHINE
A rotor for a permanent magnet machine includes first and second axially successive rotor sections each including permanent magnets generating magnetic field having a pole pitch. The rotor includes a first coupling system for connecting the first rotor section to a shaft and a second coupling system for connecting the second rotor section to the shaft or to the first rotor section. The second rotor section is rotatable with respect to the first rotor section by an angle corresponding to the pole pitch in response to releasing the second coupling system so as to set the stator flux-linkages generated by the first and second rotor sections to be substantially zeroes. Thereafter, the permanent magnets do not substantially induce voltages on the stator windings even if the rotor is rotating during for example an internal fault of stator windings.
Aquatic invasive species control apparatuses and methods for watercraft
Wakeboats that include an aquatic invasive species control apparatus are provided. A vessel power supply system for a vessel including a propulsion device that includes an engine and a generator driven by the engine to generate electricity, includes a first battery that supplies power to the propulsion device, a second battery that supplies power to accessories of the vessel, a first open circuit voltage sensor that detects an open circuit voltage of the first battery, a second open circuit voltage sensor that detects an open circuit voltage of the second battery, and a switch that is turned on/off to open and close a current path between the first battery and the second battery.
