Split-reference system and method for rapid re-trimming rate command of force trim release
A flight control system includes an active control inceptor, a flight control computer, and a force trim release. The active control inceptor includes a control member movable from a first position to a second position to command a vehicle-body rate and including a detent position that holds an attitude. The flight control computer generates a trim command from the second position, a reference position, and a vehicle-body state. With the force trim release selected when the control member is moved from the first position to the second position, the first position is designated as the reference position and the second position is designated as the detent position. Upon deselection of the force trim release with the control member at the second position, the second position is designated as the reference position and the trim command is designated as the detent position.

SELF-ADJUSTING SYSTEM FOR AIRCRAFT CONTROL
A self-adjusting flight control system is disclosed. In various embodiments, an input interface receives an input signal generated by an inceptor based at least in part on a position of an input device comprising the inceptor. A processor coupled to the input interface determines dynamically a mapping to be used to map input signals received from the inceptor to corresponding output signals associated with flight control and uses the determined mapping to map the input signal to a corresponding output signal. The processor determines the mapping at least in part by computing a running average of the output signal over an averaging period and adjusting the mapping at least in part to associate a neutral position of the input device comprising the inceptor with a corresponding output level that is determined at least in part by the computed running average.
Controller
A controller includes a first body portion, adapted to be grasped by a person's middle finger, ring finger, and pinky finger, a second body portion adapted to be grasped by a person's index finger, and a third body portion that defines a first surface adapted to receive a person's thumb. A finger switch is positioned on a front surface of the second body portion. The finger switch is positioned such that it may be actuated by the person's index finger. The second body portion is disposed between the first body portion and the third body portion. The second body portion defines an offset with respect to the first body portion. The third body portion defines a second surface above the finger switch, which may receive the person's index finger.

A flight control system includes a flight control computer operable in a flight state and a ground state. A high demand trim relief logic is operable by the flight control computer in the ground state. The high demand trim relief logic is configured to automatically modify the neutral position of a rotor when a command input to the flight control computer to control the rotor is near an allowable limit.

RUDDER AND BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY
An airplane rudder and brake pedal assembly includes a rudder arm assembly having one rudder arm with first upper and lower arm portions, and another rudder arm with second upper and lower arm portions. The rudder arm assembly is assembled to a beam at an intersection of the first upper and lower arm portions, and an intersection of the second upper and lower arm portions. The first and second rudder arms are configured to rotate about the beam at the intersection. The rotation of the first and second rudder arms is configured to adjust control surfaces that control a yaw axis of the airplane. A brake pedal is attached to the first and second lower arm portions. Rotation of the brake pedal brakes the airplane. A rotary sensor is assembled to the brake pedal and the lower arm portion, and configured to determine an extent of the brake pedal rotation.

A control system for an aircraft allowing a pilot of the aircraft to control aerodynamic means, the control system comprising a processing unit for generating control commands, the control commands being transmitted to control devices to modify a position of the aerodynamic means and to pilot the aircraft according to four control axes having a pitch control axis, a roll control axis, a yaw movement control axis and a lift control axis, the control system comprising a control member generating control setpoints, the control setpoints being transmitted to the processing unit generating the control commands under the dependency of the control setpoints, the control member being mechanically disconnected from the control devices.

A control system (400) for an active inceptor (103) for a fly by wire aircraft permits a zero force null point to settle to a non-zero displacement trim position. An internal position state of a second order mass spring damper model is moved in conjunction with force-displacement characteristic coordinates. This results in no second order dynamics being superimposed on the feel of the inceptor (103) when dynamically adjusting the trim position, thereby eliminating the possibility of any unpleasant buzzing been felt by the operator of the inceptor during a trimming operation.
