Elevon control system

A system comprising an aerial vehicle or an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) configured to control pitch, roll, and/or yaw via airfoils having resiliently mounted trailing edges opposed by fuselage-house deflecting actuator horns. Embodiments include one or more rudder elements which may be rotatably attached and actuated by an effector member disposed within the fuselage housing and extendible in part to engage the one or more rudder elements.

Method of using a seal to seal a space between structures

A method of using a seal to seal a space between a first structure and a second structure that is movable relative to the first structure, the method includes engaging both the first structure and the second structure with the seal so as to seal the space with the second structure in a first position relative to the first structure, and disengaging the second structure from at least a portion of the seal with the second structure in a second position relative to the first structure so that at least a portion of the space is unsealed, where the second structure swipes across the seal moving between the first position and the second position.

A WING FOR AN AIRCRAFT
20230002032 · 2023-01-05 ·

A wing (5) for an aircraft (1) including a fixed wing (7), a high-lift device (15) and a hold-down arrangement (27) between two supports (23, 25) and having a first hold-down element (29) attached to the high-lift device (15) and a second hold-down element (31) attached to the fixed wing (7). The first hold-down element (29) contacts the second hold-down element (31) when the high-lift device (15) is in a retracted position to prevent a trailing edge (22) of the high-lift device (15) from detaching from an upper surface (19) of the fixed wing (7). One of the hold-down elements (29, 31) is a load-limited hold-down element (32) which is destroyed when loads transmitted through the hold down elements (29, 31) exceed a threshold. Once destroyed, the trailing edge (22) of the high-lift device (15) is not prevented from detaching from the upper surface (19).

AIRFOIL OF AN AERODYNAMIC SURFACE

An airfoil of an aerodynamic surface including: a control surface having an upper surface and a lower surface, and an actuator configured to elevate or lower the control surface, wherein at least a portion of one of the upper surface and the lower surface of the control surface is auxetic with a negative Poisson ratio, and the other of the upper surface and the lower surface of the control surface includes a material with a higher Poisson ratio.

A blade seal for sealing a gap between a first aircraft component and a second aircraft component, including a flexible seal member having a first end for attaching to the first aircraft component and a second end for extending towards the second aircraft component, a sensor and an actuator directly coupled to the flexible seal member. The sensor is configured to detect deformation of the flexible seal member and send a signal to the actuator in response to the deformation, and the actuator is configured to impart a load on the flexible seal member and to activate only in response to the signal received directly from the sensor by the actuator to counter the detected deformation of the flexible seal member.

ATTACHMENT CONCEPT FOR A FAIRING ON AN AIRFOIL BODY SUCH AS A FLAP OR A WING OF AN AIRCRAFT
20220402623 · 2022-12-22 ·

An arrangement comprising an airfoil body, a junction mechanism for attaching the airfoil body to a support element of an aircraft, and a fairing for aerodynamically covering the junction mechanism. The fairing has a cover element covering a trailing end portion of the fairing. The cover element is attached to the trailing edge of the airfoil body by a form fit connection.
