Cooling system for cooling electronic aircraft equipment, aircraft equipped with a cooling system for cooling electronic aircraft equipment and method for cooling electronic aircraft equipment
A cooling system for cooling electronic aircraft equipment comprises a primary cooling arrangement configured to provide basic cooling energy for cooling the electronic aircraft equipment and a supplemental cooling arrangement configured to provide supplemental cooling energy for cooling the electronic aircraft equipment. The supplemental cooling arrangement comprises a coolant supply system and a coolant distribution system. The coolant supply system is configured to supply a compressed coolant to the electronic aircraft equipment to be cooled, and the coolant distribution system is configured to selectively direct the compressed coolant supplied by the coolant supply system to at least one of a plurality of components of the electronic aircraft equipment.
COMPONENT COOLING AND COOLING AIR FLOW GENERATION FROM REMOTE HEAT EXCHANGER
A system for cooling a motor operating within an aircraft system includes an enclosure receiving ram air from a first ram air duct and discharging ram air to a second ram air duct to form a cooling path. The second ram air duct is discrete and independent from the second ram air duct. The system can discharge ram air between a heat exchanger and a fan within the second ram air duct that define a reduced or negative pressure region within the second ram air duct.
Passenger cabin air distribution system and method of using
A passenger cabin air distribution system includes a ventilation system and an ejector-diffuser. The ventilation system is operable to provide a conditioned air. The ejector-diffuser is positioned to receive a flow of the conditioned air from the ventilation system. The ejector-diffuser includes an induction unit and a diffuser section. The induction unit includes a secondary inlet in communication with a cabin air from a passenger cabin and is configured to mix the flow of the conditioned air with an induced flow of the cabin air into a mixed air. The diffuser section includes a discharge to eject the mixed air to the passenger cabin. The diffuser section is shaped to provide for efficient mixing with low backpressure in order to maintain the low motive pressure in the nozzle.
Thermal management of tail cone mounted generator
A gas turbine engine includes a turbine rotor connected to a main compressor rotor. A tail cone is mounted inward of an exhaust core flow. A generator rotor is adjacent a generator stator. The generator rotor and stator are mounted within the tail cone. A passage connects a bypass flow path to the tail cone. A cooling air compressor is operable within the passage. The turbine rotor drives a shaft to drive the generator rotor and the cooling compressor. A method is also disclosed.
Vapor leak pressure relief and diversion system
A cooling system includes a first cooling loop, a second cooling loop and a heat exchanger configured to transfer heat from the first cooling loop to the second cooling loop. The first cooling loop includes a flow restrictor, an inertial separator, and a pressure relief valve cooperating to effect diversion of vapor present in the first cooling loop due to a leak between the first cooling loop and the second cooling loop.
Thermal management system
A thermal management system adapted to vent a two-phase working fluid into an environment having a higher pressure than a vapor pressure of a working fluid corresponding to a set point of the system including a secondary vessel containing a secondary species. The system includes a primary vessel containing the working fluid and the secondary species, and at least one valve to selectively control venting of a mixture of the working fluid and the secondary species from the primary vessel to the environment. The system includes at least one valve connected between the primary vessel and the secondary vessel to selectively control charging of the secondary species into the primary vessel.
Refrigeration systems
A refrigeration system can include a main flow circuit configured to flow a refrigerant therethrough and a heat input disposed in the main flow circuit and configured to receive heat and transfer the heat to the refrigerant in the main flow circuit to output heated refrigerant flow. The system can include a passive pump disposed in the main flow circuit downstream of the heat input configured to receive the heated refrigerant flow from the heat input and to use the heated refrigerant flow to generate a vacuum at a pump port and a condenser disposed in the main flow circuit downstream of the passive pump for receiving flow from the passive pump. The condenser can be configured to receive heat from the heated refrigerant flow and reject heat to cool the heated refrigerant flow to output partially cooled refrigerant flow. An outlet of the condenser can be upstream of the heat input.
THERMAL MANAGEMENT DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
A system including a thermal management body attached to an electronics equipment, a cavity within the thermal management body storing a coolant, and a cold plate separating the cavity and the electronics equipment.
Air cycle machines, air cycle machine systems, and methods of controlling air flow in air cycle machines
An air cycle machine includes a compressor in fluid communication with a load cooling heat exchanger, a first valve and a first turbine connecting the compressor to the load cooling heat exchanger, and a second valve and a second turbine. The second valve and the second turbine connect the compressor to the load cooling heat exchanger and connected in parallel with the first valve and the first turbine between the compressor and the load cooling heat exchanger. Air cycle machine systems and methods of controlling air flow through air cycle machines are also described.
