SPACECRAFT, COMMUNICATION METHOD, AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A disclosed spacecraft is provided with: an attitude control actuator configured to control an attitude of the spacecraft; an imaging device configured to receive an optical communication signal from another spacecraft; and an attitude controller configured to control the attitude control actuator, based on a position of the optical communication signal in an image obtained by the imaging device.
Wireless transmitter with improved thermal management
A high efficiency satellite transmitter comprises an RF amplifier chip in thermal contact with a radiant cooling element via a heat conducting element. The RF amplifier chip comprises an active layer disposed on a high thermal conductivity substrate having a thermal conductivity greater than about 1000 W/mK, maximizing heat conduction out of the RF amplifier chip and ultimately into outer space when the chip is operating within a satellite under normal transmission conditions. In one embodiment, the active layer comprises materials selected from the group consisting of GaN, InGaN, AlGaN, and InGaAlN alloys. In one embodiment, the high thermal conductivity substrate comprises synthetic diamond.
System and method for integrated optimization of design and performance of satellite constellations
The embodiments herein provide a system and method for integrated optimization of design and performance of satellite constellations. The present disclosure provides a method for optimization of design and performance of satellite constellation to provide internet connectivity at preset geographic regions. In current methods, the optimizations of subsystems are performed independently and the results are combined, resulting in a loss of overall optimality. The present disclosure defines the relationships between subsystems such that integrity of complete design is tested with fewer complexities and provides an integrated optimization framework, in which every subsystem is optimized individually and collectively. The present disclosure provides a method for optimization of power subsystem of satellites by determining the pattern of payload operation and need for peak power. The present disclosure also provides a method to minimize the number of satellites required in constellations by carefully regulating spot beams formed by individual satellites in constellations.
Maritime communication system based on low earth orbit satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle
The present disclosure relates to a maritime communication system based on low earth orbit satellites and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The maritime communication system according to one embodiment may include one or more maritime users, one or more satellites connected to a network operator, and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for relaying communication between the maritime users and the satellites.
Additively manufactured satellite panel with damping
A satellite is disclosed, including a body having an additively manufactured wall panel and a communication device connected to the body. The wall panel includes a facesheet and a stiffening structure extending from a first side of the facesheet. The communication device is configured to send and receive data while in space.
Low earth orbit satellite communication system employing beam-hopping
The disclosed method for a communication satellite may include (1) simultaneously generating a first transmission beam to a first ground station and a second transmission beam to each of a plurality of second ground stations in sequence according to a schedule, (2) simultaneously receiving a third transmission beam from the first ground station and a fourth transmission beam from each of the second ground stations in sequence according to the schedule, (3) forwarding first data received via the third transmission beam to each of the second ground stations via the second transmission beam, and (4) forwarding second data received via the fourth transmission beam from each of the second ground stations to the first ground station via the first transmission beam. Various other methods and systems are also disclosed.
SPACECRAFT
[Problem] To provide a spacecraft having a more effective arrangement of amplifiers. [Solution] Provided is a spacecraft comprising: a main body having a housing space for housing an electronic device within; an oscillator configured to output a radio wave including a frequency in a predetermined frequency band; an amplifier disposed on an exterior of the main body so as to be exposed to space and configured to amplify the power of the radio wave output by the oscillator; and an antenna, disposed on the exterior of the main body, for emitting the radio wave to the outside at the power amplified by the amplifier.
INTERFACE SATELLITE
A multi-user satellite system provides communication services to external satellites. This satellite system provides in-orbit access points that can be used by the external satellites to offload data instead on relying directly on ground stations. One approach to such communication is to use a set of interface satellites (“converter satellites”) that provide a gateway between a constellation of satellites that together provide communication services to one or more ground stations, but that do not necessarily have the communication capabilities to communicate with external satellites. In this way, the interface satellites can be put in compatible orbits with external satellites and provide communication gateways that can be used to offload data from the external satellites to ground stations. As external satellites change their communication methods, the interface satellites can be reconfigured or new compatible interface satellites can be launched, without having to modify the constellation of satellites.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SATELLITE-BASED MASKING AND AMPLIFICATION
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device that has a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, including receiving a request for an observation of an overhead viewing area from an observer location; discovering an interference of a satellite with the observation of the overhead viewing area; determining possible solutions to the interference; selecting a solution of the possible solutions; receiving the observation from one or more satellites responding to the solution selected; and providing a response to the request including the observation received. Other embodiments are disclosed.
System for tracking solar energy
An antenna system is configured for use in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) around Earth. The system has a plurality of antenna satellites coupled together to form a phased array. Each of the plurality of antenna satellites have an antenna body with an antenna and a solar cell. A processing device determines an orientation of the plurality of antenna satellites and position the phased array in the orientation based on an analysis of the solar cell of the antenna bodies facing the sun, the antenna of the antenna bodies facing the Earth, and maintaining a torque equilibrium of the phased array.
