Space oven

A space oven operates in microgravity environments by forcing convection towards the center through a unique heating element and airflow design. The space oven includes a tubular chamber, a heating rack, a heating system, a cooling system, a hatch, a user interface, a microcontroller, an enclosure, at least one first vent, at least one second vent and at least one temperature sensor. The tubular chamber is the cooking area. The heating rack holds consumables in place. The heating system heats up consumables. The cooling system prevents any overheating. The hatch closes off and allows access to the inside of the tubular chamber. The user interface allows a user to input commands. The microcontroller manages the electronic components. The enclosure protects the tubular chamber. The at least one first vent and the at least one second vent reduce pressure buildup. The at least one temperature sensor monitors the internal temperature.

Micro-cathode matrix arc thrusters

A matrix thruster that may be used to reposition and/or stabilize a CubeSAT satellite. The matrix thruster includes a conductive plate with an opening, a plurality of wires within the opening, a power supply electrically connected to the conductive plate or each of the plurality of wires via an inductor, and an electrical switch. The electrical switch creates a current change that creates an electric potential spike across the inductor. The electric potential spike across the inductor initiates an arc discharge between one of the wires and the conductive plate, which forms plasma that ejects cathode particles from the matrix thruster. Using multiple wires (e.g., four titanium wires) extends the lifetime of the thruster, as each wire restores an inter-electrode film needed for the other wires to continue generating plasma.

SUSPENDING RELEASE DEVICE FOR OBSERVING DROP VIBRATION ATTITUDE CHANGES OF LANDER AND TEST METHOD
20230055684 · 2023-02-23 ·

A suspending release device for observing a drop vibration attitude change of a lander and a test method are provided. The device includes a bench system, a lifting system fixed to the bench system, a horizontal frame system, an attitude control system, and a suspending release system hinged to the attitude control system. The horizontal frame system may slide vertically on the bench system and may drive the attitude control system to slide horizontally. A test lander is fixed to a release sliding block. The release sliding block is locked with a main load bearing block. An attitude of the test lander when releasing is adjusted. The horizontal frame system is lifted to a predetermined height. Guide rods are indirectly driven to release the sliding block by a motor. The whole lander falls freely and touches the ground to collide, and the process is recorded by a high-speed camera.

This disclosure describes various techniques and systems for rapid low-cost access to suborbital and orbital space and accommodation of acceleration of sensitive payloads to space. For example, a distributed gas injection system may be used in a ram accelerator to launch multiple payloads through the atmosphere. Additionally or alternatively, multiple projectiles may assemble during flight through the atmosphere to transfer and/or resources to another projectile.

The system includes a gas delivery assembly having a storage tank with a compressed gas. A sampler device is provided having a hollow interior, the hollow interior having a curved and angled surface, an open end and an exit end. A plurality of nozzles are fluidly coupled between the hollow interior and the storage tank, at least one of the plurality of nozzles arranged to direct the compressed gas towards the exit end. A sample capture assembly is further provided having a container fluidly coupled to the exit end.

SPACECRAFT ORBIT DETERMINATION SYSTEM
20230071678 · 2023-03-09 ·

The present invention relates to a resident space object orbit determination system comprising a high efficiency module for determining a resident space object's orbit and a highly efficient method for determining same. Applicants developed a method and system to determine the orbits of residence space objects including resident space objects that do not reflect energy that is directed at them and/or may be coated to minimize the ability to accurately see such resident space objects. Thus, a method, a module and a system for making such determinations that can easily and inexpensively be added to an early warning reentry system is provided.
