Elevon control system
A system comprising an aerial vehicle or an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) configured to control pitch, roll, and/or yaw via airfoils having resiliently mounted trailing edges opposed by fuselage-house deflecting actuator horns. Embodiments include one or more rudder elements which may be rotatably attached and actuated by an effector member disposed within the fuselage housing and extendible in part to engage the one or more rudder elements.

YAW-enhancing attitude control system for VTOL fixed-wing aircraft
An unmanned aircraft capable of vertical takeoff, vertical landing, and/or flight in a hovering orientation is presented; its fixed-wing is positively-swept and of low aspect-ratio with suitable airfoils. The unmanned aircraft includes a thruster comprising two contra-rotating motors and propellers forward of the fixed-wing's leading-edge and a rudderless fin aft of the center-of-mass, all of which lie on the aircraft's plane-of-symmetry. Two elevons provide pitch and roll control. The unmanned aircraft can stand upright on its feet. A control system for aircraft with at least one wing is also presented. The control system includes a mount and attached thruster which lie on the plane-of-symmetry forward of the fixed-wing's leading-edge. A hinge axis approximately perpendicular to the aircraft's horizontal plane passes through the mount. The thruster rotates about the hinge axis for aircraft yaw control.
DOCKING STATION WITH RETRACTABLE GUIDE APPARATUS FOR UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE
Disclosed is a docking station for use with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The docking station has a retractable guide apparatus having a retracted state in which the retractable guide apparatus is retracted within the docking station and an expanded state in which the retractable guide is expanded outward from the docking station for physically guiding the UAV into the docking station. Given that the guide apparatus is retractable, the retractable guide apparatus is provided with some protection from environmental factors such as exposure to ice, snow and high winds. This can help to increase durability and reliability, such that the UAV can reliably land in the docking station without any personnel being present. Deployment is also possible without any personnel being present. Therefore, it is possible to avoid or mitigate the costs associated with personnel.
SYSTEM, PROGRAM, MANAGEMENT METHOD, AND AIRCRAFT
Provided is a system including: a management unit configured to manage a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel, in which the management unit is configured to control the plurality of battery packs to cause the plurality of battery packs to be discharged alternately so that a discharge rate of each of the plurality of battery packs becomes higher than the discharge rate in a case of discharging all of the plurality of battery packs. The plurality of battery packs include a plurality of left-hand side battery packs and a plurality of right-hand side battery packs, and the management unit is configured to manage the plurality of battery packs to cause at least one of the plurality of battery packs in each of the plurality of left-hand side battery packs and the plurality of right-hand side battery packs to be discharged at a time in order.
UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES INCLUDING WING CAPTURE DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS
Unmanned aerial vehicles including wing capture devices and related methods are disclosed. An example unmanned aerial vehicle includes a fuselage and a wing assembly, the wing assembly including a shoulder coupled to the fuselage, the shoulder including a joint, the joint distal to the fuselage, a wing coupled to the joint, and a hook, the hook coupled to the shoulder, the hook including a groove to receive a cable to arrest flight of the unmanned aerial vehicle.
Tailless aircraft
The invention relates to an aircraft having a tailless fuselage. The fuselage has a body which includes a transverse trailing edge. The aircraft further includes a wing having two sides which protrude from opposite sides of the fuselage. The body typically has a fineness ratio of between 3 and 7. Each side of the wing has an inner section having a first dihedral angle and an outer section having a second dihedral angle, the second dihedral angle being less than the first dihedral angle. At least part of the outer section is typically swept back. The configuration of the aircraft provides it with improved flight efficiency.
Propulsion system for a buoyant aerial vehicle
A buoyant aerial vehicle includes: a balloon configured to store a gas; a payload coupled to the balloon; and a propulsion unit coupled to the payload by a tether. The propulsion unit includes: a fuselage having a substantially longitudinal shape, a first end, and a second end; a primary airfoil coupled to the fuselage; a secondary airfoil coupled to the fuselage at one of the first end or the second end; and a thrust generating device disposed at one of the first end or the second end and configured to move the propulsion unit relative to the payload along a propulsion flight path. The movement of the propulsion unit imparts movement of the buoyant aerial vehicle along a vehicle flight path.
Lock apparatus and related methods for use with drones
Lock apparatus and related methods for use with drones are disclosed. A disclosed drone assembly includes a wing, a keel-beam, an adapter positioned on an end of the keel-beam, and a lock configured to receive the adapter. The lock includes a first lock portion coupled to the wing and a second lock portion rotatable relative to the first lock portion between a first position and a second position. The lock is configured to (a) couple the keel-beam to the wing when the second lock portion is in the second position and (b) decouple the keel-beam from the wing when the second lock portion is in the first position.
