MICROWAVE ACTIVE PACKAGING FOR SELECTIVE HEATING OF CONTENTS
Frozen desserts contained in a microwave active packaging are disclosed. In some embodiments, the microwave active packaging includes a microwave active layer configured to selectively heat the contents of the microwave active packaging. The contents may include a first layer of frozen food, and one or more additional topping layers. When placed into a microwave, the microwave active layer causes the one or more additional topping layers to heat, while the first layer is maintained at or below a freezing temperature. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Machine and method for producing electronic-cigarette cartridges
Machine and method for producing electronic-cigarette cartridges; being provided: a fill conveyor which feeds bottom shells of the cartridges along a fill path; a filling device located along the fill path to feed a measure of a liquid substance downwards into each bottom shell; an assembly conveyor which feeds bottom shells along an assembly path; a transfer station where the bottom shells are transferred from the fill conveyor to the assembly conveyor; and at least a first assembly device located along the assembly path to fit each bottom shell with a corresponding top cap.
Device and a method for maintaining a gas flow barrier between two interconnected volumes
A method and a device for maintaining, in a filling machine, a gas flow barrier between two volumes of a channel, wherein the channel is used for transportation of packages in a length direction thereof, and the volumes comprise a first volume having a first degree of sterilization and a second volume having a second degree of sterilization, and wherein the first volume comprises a gas injection mechanism, the second volume comprises a gas evacuation mechanism, and the first and the second volume meet in an interface area extending in a length direction of the channel. The method comprises arranging, divergent jets flowing from the gas injection mechanism such that the divergent jets of gas cooperate in the interface region for the generation of a unidirectional flow in the direction from the first volume towards the second volume in the interface area, and thus forming a gas flow barrier.
Coating composition for metal substrates
The present invention provides novel packaging articles, e.g., food and beverage cans. Preferred cans typically comprise a body portion and an end portion, wherein at least one of the body and end portions are aluminum and are coated on at least one major surface with a coating composition of the present invention. Suitable coating compositions of the present invention comprise: one or more polyester resins, wherein at least one of the polyester resins has a glass transition temperature (Tg) less than about 50 C., and wherein the polyester resin is formed by the reaction of one or more polyacid molecules and one or more polyol molecules, and a crosslinker. Preferred compositions are substantially free of mobile BPA and aromatic glycidyl ether compounds, e.g., BADGE, BFDGE and epoxy novalacs (e.g., NOGE) and more preferred compositions are also substantially free of bound BPA and aromatic glycidyl ether compounds. In more preferred embodiments (e.g., alcoholic beverage cans), the polyol molecules used to make the polyester resin are substantially free of NPG. The present invention also provides a method of making such cans.
Device and method for the drying of packaging
Shown and described is a device for the drying of packaging, in particular composite packaging for foodstuffs, including: a conveyor belt with cells for receiving the packaging, and at least one drying facility for drying the packaging. In order to achieve particularly efficient drying of the packaging, it is envisaged that the drying facility has at least one contact element with at least one contact surface. Also shown and described are the use of such a device for the drying of packaging filled with foodstuffs, method for drying packaging, and a packaging for foodstuffs.
FLEXIBLE CONTAINER WITH FITMENT AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME
A flexible container is provided. The flexible container includes four panels. The four panels form (i) a body portion; (ii) a neck portion, and a flare portion that extends from the neck portion; (iii) a tapered transition portion between the body portion and the neck portion; and (iv) the neck portion has a reduced width. The flare portion has an expanded end. The width of the flare portion gradually increases from the neck portion to the expanded end.

MACHINE AND PROCESS FOR MAKING PACKAGES CONTAINING LIQUID OR CREAMY PRODUCTS
A machine for making packages containing liquid or creamy products includes stations for punching/forming a first blank defining upper, lower and rear faces of the open package. A punching and creasing station forms a second blank defining first and second lateral faces of the package. The second blank has a notch for partial transversal separation between the first and second lateral faces. A station for assembling the first blank with the second blank for opening/closing the package with the notch of the two lateral faces, arranged in a V, to form an edge of the package. A transport unit is movable along a feed direction and configured to receive the package from the assembly station. A station opens the edge and fills the package with a dose of the product fed through the open notch. A station seals the notch.
Process for in situ production of microcapillary dispensing system for flexible pouch
In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a process for producing a flexible pouch is provided. The process includes placing a capillary precursor element (CPE) between two opposing flexible films. The flexible films define a common peripheral edge. The CPE comprises an array of pins sandwiched between two opposing polymeric strips. The process includes positioning a first side of the CPE at a first side of the common peripheral edge and positioning a second side of the CPE at a second side of the common peripheral edge. The process includes first sealing, at a first seal condition, (i) the opposing polymeric strips to each other to form a matrix, and (ii) sealing the matrix to the two opposing flexible films. The process includes removing the array of pins from the matrix to form an in situ microcapillary strip.
