Package deceleration and protection systems
This disclosure describes, in part, systems and methods for package deceleration and protection while packages are loaded into a bulk box. The packaging assembly includes an interference mechanism attached to a bulk box (e.g., a Gaylord container) by multiple elastic members. As packages are dropped into the bulk box, each package contacts the interference mechanism and the elastic members dampen the kinetic energy of the falling package, thereby reducing its velocity before the package continues into the bulk box.
CONVEYING ARRANGEMENT
An arrangement for transferring and/or grouping products (32) is proposed, comprising at least one mover (20) which has at least one permanent magnet (19) which is connected to the mover (20), wherein the permanent magnet (19) interacts with at least one coil plane (18) of a drive surface (13) for the in particular contactless driving of the mover (20), wherein the mover (20) is arranged displaceably and/or rotatably in at least two degrees of freedom on the drive surface (13), furthermore comprising at least one conveying system (34, 38) which conveys products (32), characterized in that the mover (20) picks up or deposits at least one product (32) by means of a movement of the mover (20) with at least one vertical component.
A FRUIT PACKAGING TRAY, APPARATUS AND PROCESS
Embodiments of the invention provide a packaging tray for use in packaging items, the tray having a first region having a cross-section which defines a concave surface having one or more cross-sections suitable to receive an item and a second region having a cross-section which is substantially straight. Embodiments provide a process in which tray may be loaded by depositing kiwi fruit and then agitated to settle and align the kiwifruit in the concave sections assisted with the straight sections providing space for movement of the kiwifruit laterally to the concave sections and directing the kiwifruit of the agitated tray towards the concave section. The tray is wrapped after the items are deposited and the wrapped tray is loaded into a box with settled items and loads the wrapped tray into a box.
System and method for automating packaging of varying shipment sets
A system for automating packaging of varying shipment sets comprises a control unit for receiving from a database stored information on the size and number of items forming a shipment set according to a dispatch order, an information acquiring device for acquiring current information on the items being actually arranged for said shipment set, said information acquiring device being communicatively coupled with said control unit and said control unit being configured to calculate, either based on the information from said database or from the information acquiring device, the dimensions of a custom sized cardboard box for packaging the shipment set, a box forming station for forming said custom sized cardboard box having a bottom wall, four side walls and an open top, a packaging station for packaging the items forming the shipment set into said custom sized cardboard box, and a lid placing station for closing said custom sized cardboard box with an appropriate lid, wherein said control unit is configured for performing a verification using the current information from said information acquiring device and the stored information from said database to verify that the actual shipment set is formed according to the dispatch order.
Kitting machine
A kitting machine is disclosed. In various embodiments, the machine includes an actuator configured to move a surface or receptacle to a position associated with item retrieval; and a controller configured to control operation of the actuator to position an item in the position associated with item retrieval, in a manner that is synchronized at least in part with operation of a robotic retrieval device configured to retrieve the item from the position associated with item retrieval.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PACKING OPTIMIZATION AND VISUALIZATION
Systems and methods are disclosed for packing optimization and visualization. In one example, a method for managing a shipment of a plurality of products, comprises: obtaining a request for a packing instruction from a user via a user interface; ranking the products based on their weight information and dimension information to generate a first ranking list; ranking one or more containers based on their dimension information to generate a second ranking list; determining, based on the first ranking list and the second ranking list, a plurality of layout configurations for packing the products into at least one container selected from the one or more containers; selecting a layout configuration from the plurality of layout configurations based at least partially on a rate table including shipping rate information of one or more shipping carriers identified by the user, wherein the selected layout configuration minimizes a cost of shipping the products; generating a visual illustration of the layout configuration; and providing a packing instruction comprising the visual illustration to the user via the user interface.
Rotary valve pump for automatic drug compounder
Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes controllable fluid pathways. One or more rotary piston pump/valves may be used to move fluid and/or gasses through the various fluid pathways of the cartridge. For example, the cartridge may include a dedicated rotary piston pump/valve for each process that moves fluid and/or gas through the cartridge. When turning, the rotary piston pump/valve acts as a pump to move the fluid or gas, and when the rotary piston pump/valve stops turning, it effectively acts as a shutoff valve, preventing any fluid flow. Magnetic couplers for the cartridge may be provided on a pump head of the compounder system.
