Method for controlling the amount of an adhesive to be applied to a substrate
11534792 · 2022-12-27 · ·

Controlling application of adhesive on a substrate includes using a gas sensor, obtaining a first sensor signal. The first sensor signal indicates a partial pressure of a gas that arises from a constituent of the adhesive. Based at least in part on this partial pressure, the controller either controls an applicator's delivery of the adhesive to a substrate or causes an error signal indicative of the adhesive's unsuitability for adhesion.

Vacuum drum for a labeling unit, and labeling unit having a vacuum drum of this type

A vacuum drum for container labeling includes vacuum holders for holding a label. Each holder has a bistable rotational switch that switches between operating positions as a result of its switch actuator interacting with stationary switches during the drum's rotation. In one operating position, a label receives glue from a glue station. In the other, the holders avoid engagement with the glue station.

Application of linerless labels

A method of applying a linerless label to an article wherein a web of joined labels is die cut from a web of label material in which the adhesive is protected by a water-soluble coating which provides a cushion between an anvil and die cutting means. The water-soluble coating is at least partially removed by exposure to water in a press following die-cutting, in a label applicator, or in an off-line unit. The web of joined labels may be wound and unwound between each of the above options. The web of joined labels may be separated in a label applicator by breaking a weakened boundary between adjoining labels or by cutting at a boundary between the label and the adjoining label. The linerless label may contain anti-counterfeit means that may be subsequently identified overtly and/or covertly.

GLUE VAPOR SUCTION DEVICE FOR A LABELER, HOT GLUE UNIT WITH THE GLUE VAPOR SUCTION DEVICE, AND HOT GLUE METHOD

The disclosure relates to a hot glue method for applying hot glue onto labels and/or containers using the hot glue unit, and to a glue vapor suction device for a labeler, comprising a suction opening, a suction, a pre-separation unit, a filter unit, and an outlet opening, which are arranged in communication with one another successively by lines in a direction of flow of the glue vapor through a fluid line system. At least one sensor system is arranged in the suction for verifying proper operation of the glue vapor suction. A hot glue unit is provided comprising at least one glue roller, a glue container, and a housing in which the glue roller is arranged. The hot glue unit comprises a glue vapor suction device connected to the housing for sucking glue vapor from the interior of the housing before it exits the hot glue unit.

MACHINE AND METHOD FOR LABELING CONTAINERS

A machine for labeling containers, which includes a transfer drum, fed by an unwinding assembly for unwinding a labeling ribbon, which is provided with cutting elements which are mutually angularly spaced apart around an axis thereof; the unwinding assembly is drivable by control elements which are adapted to command, during the rotation of the transfer drum about its own axis, at least one variation of the feeding speed of the labeling ribbon, with respect to the peripheral speed of the transfer drum; the control elements are adapted to command at least one first slowing of the feeding speed of the labeling ribbon during the activation of the cutting device.

Vacuum drum for a labeling unit, and labeling unit comprising a vacuum drum of this type

A labeling apparatus includes a rotating vacuum drum and a pair of vacuum holders on the drum that are switched by rotating switches between a working position for gluing labels and a rest position in which the vacuum holders avoid an application of glue. Actuators cause the switches to transition between operating positions. Stationary switch controllers initiate transitions between the operating positions of the switch, thereby causing the holders to transition between their two positions.

A label application system for applying paper non-pressure adhesive labels to relatively short, round, straight-walled articles is constructed and designed so that labels to be applied to passing articles are delivered to the label application zone on a vacuum conveyor in a short feed orientation, with each label being oriented lengthwise across a width of the vacuum conveyor. At the time of labeling, the label is held stationary on a flat vacuum surface, and the label is applied by spinning the articles past the vacuum surface. As a result, the system is capable of labeling articles at processing speeds of up to or exceeding 800 articles per minute.

A gluing arrangement for applying glue to labels in a labeling machine, which gluing arrangement has a heated roller element and one or more temperature sensors which sense the temperature of a portion of the roller element. The temperature sensors are protectively sealed against contamination and mechanical damage, such as by being sealed inside the body of the roller element. The gluing arrangement also has a heating arrangement which includes one or more induction coils for heating the roller element. The heating arrangement and/or induction coils are positioned within the roller element such that they are surrounded by either an inner or outer surface of the roller element.
