Resealable can lid
The invention relates to a can lid of a conventional design, in particular intended for beverage cans, whose special feature comprises the fact that a substantially ring-shaped molded plastic part is fastened to the lower side of the lid surface surrounding the opening region to form an opening that is sealingly reclosable, in that a plastic stopper part is fixedly connected to the lower side of the tongue tab that is upwardly pivotable during the opening procedure and sealingly engages into the molded part, and in that the peripheral contour of the tongue tab is preferably disposed in the region of the molded part at a predefinable spacing from the stopper part.
CLOSURE ASSEMBLY FOR A BEVERAGE CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR REPEATABLY CLOSING A BEVERAGE CONTAINER BY MEANS OF A CLOSURE ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to a closure assembly (1) for a beverage container (2), at least comprising:—a lid element (3) having an opening (4); and—a closure element (5) for repeatably closing the opening (4), the closure element being disposed on the lid element (3); wherein the lid element (3) has an outside (6) and an inside (7), and the opening (4) has an opening edge (8) and an opening plane (9) formed by the opening edge (8); wherein the closure element (5) has at least a base part (10), a tab (11) and a lever element (12); wherein the base part (10) comprises a frame part (13), which is disposed on the opening edge (8) and has a window (14), and a flap (15), which is pivotably connected to the frame part (13) in order to close the window (14) and thus the opening (4); wherein the tab (11) is pivotably connected to the frame part (13) by means of a first axis of rotation (16); and wherein the lever element (12) is connected to the tab (11) by means of a second axis of rotation (17) and to the flap (15) by means of a third axis of rotation (18). The invention also relates to a method for repeatably closing an opening (4) of a beverage container (2) by means of a closure assembly (1).
RESEALABLE POP TOP LID
A pop top lid for cylindrical fluid containers is disclosed. The lid includes an end shell with a scored line defining a tear panel, a stay-on tab assembly, and a rivet for attaching the assembly to the shell. The stay-on tab assembly features a pocketed tang with a central portion containing a pivot hole for the rivet. The assembly includes a top cover and bottom plate, spaced apart by a gap on the leading edge. An aperture point is connected to the pocketed tang and can be rotated. A shearing edge is attached to the central portion and extends radially behind the aperture point. In an embodiment, the bottom plate is embossed to facilitate sliding of the shearing edge under the end shell wall when the pocketed tang is rotated, achieving a resealing clamp action by securely placing the embossed shape into the tear panel opening.
Resealable container lid and accessories including methods of manufacture and use
A container lid assembly including a rotational and axial guide feature extending radially from an interior surface of a lid sidewall. The rotational and axial guide feature is designed to provide axial translation and retention of a cap or other accessory when the cap (accessory) is rotationally engaged with the lid sidewall. The cap and lid can include an interface that creates a liquid and gas impervious seal therebetween. The seal can be provided between a bottom surface of the cap and the top surface of the lid, a feature of the sidewalls of the cap and the lid, or any other sealing interface. The lid can include a score line defining a tear panel, wherein the tear panel can be opened when the score line is fractured. The score line can be fractured using a stay-on-tab, an incisor, a shearing force, etc.
RECLOSABLE CAN ENDS
A reclosable can end is provided. In some embodiments, the reclosable can end comprises: a lid base that comprises a scored area; a tab that causes the scored area to at least partially separate from the lid base to expose an opening in the lid base; a closure flap, wherein the closure flap comprises: a first portion; a second portion; an opening; and a protruding portion; and a rivet that connects the tab and the closure flap to the lid base such that the tab and the closure flap are configured to rotate around the rivet, wherein the first portion of the closure flap is configured to be inserted into the opening in the lid base end when the tab and the closure flap are rotated to a position corresponding to a position of the opening in the lid base.
Resealable container lid and accessories including methods of manufacture and use
A container assembly including a body and a lid, the lid comprising a rotational and axial guide feature extending radially from a radially interior surface of a lid sidewall. The rotational and axial guide feature is designed to provide axial translation/retention of an accessory when the accessory is rotationally engaged with the lid sidewall. The container and accessory can include an interface that creates a gas impervious/liquid impervious seal therebetween. The seal can be provided between sealing surfaces of the container and the accessory. The lid can include or exclude a bottom wall. The lid can include a score line defining a tear panel in the bottom wall, wherein the tear panel can provide an opening through the bottom wall when the score line is fractured.
Resealable container lid assembly and accessories including methods of manufacture and use
A resealable container lid assembly including a cap rotationally assembled to a lid. The cap rotates between storage, opening, removal and resealing positions. Operation between the cap and the lid employs any suitable mechanical interface, such as cam tracks and cam followers. The lid includes a tear panel defined by a score line. Features of the cap are used to impinge upon the lid to fracture the score line and open the tear panel. Once opened, the cap can reseal the container. The seal can be provided between a bottom surface of the cap and the top surface of the lid, a feature of the sidewalls of the cap and the lid, or any other sealing interface. The cap can include a tamper indicator. The cap can be replaced with any of a variety of specialized caps and/or accessories designed for different functions.
SEALING SYSTEMS
The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a stopper comprising a plug and a pierceable membrane, the plug including a cavity between a pierceable membrane and a lower opening. The pierceable membrane and the cavity can form a tortuous path that reduces interactions between the contents of the container and the ambient environment. The cavity can be bounded by a plastic insert disposed within the plug. The plastic insert can include insert walls, the lower opening, and an insert flange. The pierceable membrane can be bonded to an upper surface of the insert flange.
