ECOLOGY TAB, CAN END, TOOLING AND METHOD

A reduced length ecology tab is provided for a can end. The can end includes an end panel and a rivet affixing the tab to the end panel. The tab includes a body having first and second opposing ends, and a length measured by the distance between the first end and the second end. A nose portion is disposed at or about the first end, and a lift portion is disposed at or about the second end. The length of the tab is less than 0.985 inch.

A can lid comprising: a main body comprising a laminate metal sheet, the laminate metal sheet comprising a metal sheet and a first resin film on a major surface of the metal sheet, the major surface having a score line delimiting an opening piece, the first resin film comprising a first resin layer comprising a dimer acid-copolymerized polyester resin and being amorphous; and a tab attached to the main body and adapted to cause a cleavage along the score line.

TAB, CAN LID, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CAN LID

A tab formed of a metal plate in which a resin film is laminated on at least one main surface of a base member made of a metal material, includes: a fixing portion including a rivet hole into which a rivet formed on a panel portion of a can lid is inserted; a pressing portion formed integrally with the fixing portion and configured to press a portion in a region defined by a score line formed on the panel portion; and a finger hook portion formed integrally with the pressing portion.
