A basket-type carrier formed from a single blank of foldable sheet material and method for forming is disclosed. The carrier has a pair of handle panels, a pair of bottom panels, a pair of bottom reinforcement panels, a front panel, a back panel, side panels, side reinforcement panels, side flaps, interior partition panels, and interior partition attachment flaps. The carrier is collapsed and expanded by means of an umbrella-type mechanism wherein side flaps connected to side panels and to interior partition panels slide up and down between the handle panels. This positions front, back, side, and bottom panels in either the collapsed position with these panels folded against the handle panels, flattening the carrier for storage, or in the expanded position with these panels pulled away from the handle panels, expanding the carrier to receive articles.

An article carrier comprises a collapsible tubular structure and a foldable end closure. The end closure comprises a first panel and a second panel. The first panel comprises a proximal portion hinged to the tubular structure along a first fold line and a distal portion hinged to the proximal portion along a second fold line. The second panel is hinged to the tubular structure along third fold line. The second panel is secured to the distal portion in face-contacting arrangement. The first, second, third fold lines are parallel to one another. The distal portion has a first free edge non-parallel to the first fold line. A method of forming a box from a box blank can include folding a first dividing wing of the box blank relative to a first side subpanel of the box blank about an inner hinge, the inner hinge coupling the first dividing wing to the first side subpanel, the first side subpanel coupled to a first main panel of the box by a first side hinge, the first main panel coupled to a bottom panel of the box by a first main hinge, the bottom panel coupled to a second main panel of the box by a second main hinge, a second side subpanel coupled to the second main panel by a second side hinge, a second dividing wing coupled to the second side subpanel by a second inner hinge; and coupling a first portion of the first dividing wing to the first main panel.

An automatic packaging machine is provided and comprises a plurality of in-feed conveyors for separately conveying contents. The conveyors are at different heights. The machine includes means for placing the contents into a packaging article, or placing the packaging article around the contents, with the contents in a vertically stacked configuration.
