CUP MADE OF PAPER OR PAPER-LIKE MATERIAL
Cup made of paper material having a fillable interior space formed by a shell and a base. The base via a skirt at the lower end of the interior space is fastened in a substantially liquid-tight manner to the shell, and a lower periphery of the skirt forms a footprint for the cup. The cup has an external shell composed of a planar blank of paper or paper-like material. Longitudinal edges of the blank are connected to one another in an overlap region so that the external shell forms a sleeve. The external shell, has a frustoconical shape having a first cone angle and, except for the overlap region, from the predefined spacing to the lower end is configured in a single ply. The shell, from the predefined spacing to the lower end, at least in portions tapers more heavily than in the region above the predefined spacing.

In an embodiment, the invention comprises a container comprising: a base; at least one sidewall extending upwardly from the base and terminating in a top edge, wherein the at least one sidewall is paper-based; a removable flexible membrane adhered to the top edge, wherein the membrane comprises a one-way valve; a liner ply at least partially adhered to an interior surface of the sidewall, wherein the liner ply is configured to at least partially release from the sidewall upon a pressure differential between the pressure within the container and the external pressure.

The top end closure comprises an openable inner sealing member (33, 233) which is attached by welding to the inner surface (7, 207) of the container body (2, 202) at a distance from the top end (5, 205) of the container body (2, 202), the inner sealing member (33, 233) comprising a first laminate sealing member sheet material (244′) comprising a structural layer (244a) and a thermoplastic welding layer (244b) and a second laminate sealing member sheet material (244″) comprising a metallic foil layer (244a″) and a thermoplastic welding layer (244″b), the second laminate sealing member sheet material (244″) being joined to the first laminate sealing member sheet material (244′) by welding. The structural layer (244a) of the first laminate sealing member sheet material (244) is a metallic foil layer having a thickness of from 5 micrometer to 10 micrometer, such as from 5.5 micrometer to 9 micrometer.

The structural layer (244a) of the first laminate sealing member sheet material (244) is a metallic foil layer having a thickness of from 5 micrometer to 10 micrometer, such as from 5.5 micrometer to 9 micrometer.
