BISTABLE PULL-SNAP HOLD OPEN MECHANISM AND METHOD
20180002072 · 2018-01-04 ·

One embodiment relates to a bistable hold open mechanism including first and second flexible flat, strip like members positioned relative to each other, The members include opposing first and second ends; an inner mating surface; and an opposing outer bonding surface, One or more pivot members and/or hinges is integrated into the second member separating it into a side seal portion and an operable portion, the side seal portion coupled to the operable portion. Embodiments include flexures which allow the pivot members or hinges to be biased in open or closed configurations. Appling a slight pressure to the members opens the mechanism. When the mechanism reaches a predetermined point, the pivot or hinges lock, maintaining an open configuration. Closing the mechanism only requires a slight pressure be applied to the external surface of the members, resulting in the pivot members or hinges unlocking and rotating towards a closed configuration.

Sealable pouch assemblies are described. In some embodiments, the sealable pouch assembly includes a soft pouch formed from an elastomeric material. The pouch includes a plurality of spaced apart external protrusions located near a top end of the pouch. A semi-rigid external frame is attachable to the pouch by the protrusions. The frame has a stable closed state and a stable open state. A slider is configured to slide over the external frame with the external frame in the closed state to seal the pouch in a closed pouch state.

Storage bag with features that facilitate sealing and unsealing of the bag

A storage bag includes first and second side surfaces that form an interior of the bag with an opening to the interior. A first closure profile connected to the first side surface and positioned adjacent to the opening has a top edge and includes an interlocking member that extends between first and second sides of the first closure profile forms a lip between the interlocking member and the top edge. A second closure profile connected to the second side surface and positioned adjacent to the opening of the bag has a top edge and includes an interlocking member. A first portion of the lip of the second closure profile smoothly transitions into a third portion of the lip of the second closure profile, and the third portion of the lip of the second closure profile smoothly transitions into a second portion of the lip of the second closure profile.

Storage bag with improved gripping features

A storage bag has first and second closure profiles adjacent to an opening of the bag. The first and second closure profiles are each provided with a closure member that extends along the length of the respective closure profile, with the closure member of the first closure profile being configured to engage with the closure member of the second closure profile to form a seal for the opening of the bag. The first closure profile further includes (a) a plurality of gripping ridges that extends from the closure member to the top edge of the first closure profile, and (b) a texture that extends in an area between the closure member and the top edge of the first closure profile, with the texture extending continuously (i) in the area between the closure member and the top edge of the first closure profile, and (ii) between each gripping ridge of the plurality of gripping ridges.

CLOSURE SYSTEM FOR POUCH OR CONTAINER

A container or pouch made entirely from an elastomer includes a body having a front wall and a rear wall that is connected to the front wall along a peripheral edge, and a closure system that includes a front side having a front sealing profile that includes a male closure element, and a rear side having a rear sealing profile that includes a female closure element and defining a cavity, wherein a centerline extends through the cavity. The rear side includes an inner portion that includes the entire cavity and an outer portion. A thickness of the thickened region measured in a direction parallel to the centerline is less than 35% of a total thickness of the closure system in a closed configuration measured in a direction parallel to the centerline.

One example of a nestable-stackable wider-based disposable container is composed of a plastic-coated paper frustoconical tube having its wider end edge connected continuously to the mouth of a plastic bag whose capacity is larger than the tube size. For storage, let the wide end of one container to receive the narrow end of another container. The plastic bag of the former is forced to push up inwardly and to cleave tightly to the paper side wall, allowing the later to be compactly nested into the former. For usage, one stands a container on its non-tipping wider end, places items in via its upper narrower opening, discards it as a whole unit when done. Other examples are described and shown.

An apparatus for making a self-opening bag pack includes a supply of film material. An extruder forms a continuous tube of film. A flattener flattens the tube. A corona treater treats at least one surface of the flattened tube. A first sealer forms a bottom seam across a width of the flattened tube. A cutter cuts the flattened tube into bag blanks at a predetermined distance from the bottom seam. A stacker forms the bag blanks into a bag pack. A non-linear adhesion knife penetrates the bag pack and adheres adjacent bag blanks together in the bag pack. An aperture maker forms means for suspending the pack from a dispensing rack. The pack is attached to the dispensing rack and the front wall of the subsequent bag will be adhered to the rear wall of a first bag, thereby causing the first bag to open when pulled from the rack.

A laminate separator including two ends, a middle section comprising of a notched neck and an aperture folded onto itself through said aperture creating a formed loop at the notched neck. The formed loop self-attaches to an object extending the two ends from each other. Inserting a closed laminate into the extended ends and applying pinch force moving normal to the laminate to capture the laminate, at which point the two ends provide transfer forces orthogonal to the pinch force in order to move them relative to one another opening the laminate.
