A steel sheet for a crown cap has sufficient strength and formability even when the thickness thereof is reduced for use, and has a composition containing, in percent by mass, C: 0.010% to 0.025%, Si: 0.10% or less, Mn: 0.05% to 0.50%, P: 0.050% or less, S: 0.005% to 0.050%, Al: 0.020% to 0.070%, N: less than 0.0040%, and the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities, wherein yield strength after heat treatment at 210° C. for 15 minutes is as follows: the yield strength is 550 MPa or more in a rolling direction, and the yield strength in a direction 45° from the rolling direction in a rolling plane is equal to or less than the average of the yield strength in the rolling direction and the yield strength in a direction 90° from the rolling direction in the rolling plane.

A package includes a container with a crown closure bead and an external thread segment having a diameter greater than that of the crown closure bead, a crown closure coupled to the crown closure bead, and a multi-piece closure assembly coupled to the crown closure and the container. The closure assembly includes an inner shell, a seal liner carried by the inner shell and positioned against the crown closure, and an outer shell. The inner shell has an inner skirt having at least one internal thread segment to cooperate with the external thread segment of the container. The outer shell has an outer skirt with an internal retention bead for cooperating with an external retention bead of the inner shell to retain the shells together in an axial direction, and outer child-resistant engagement features to cooperate with inner child-resistant engagement features of the inner shell.

An apparatus includes a tool operable to releasably join a metallic end closure to a metallic container. In one embodiment, the tool is configured to form a thread in the closure and the container. The tool may optionally crimp the closure to the container. Once sealed, the container can be opened by rotating the closure in an opening direction. The closure can subsequently re-close the container by rotating the closure in a closing direction.
WINCH HANDLE BOTTLE CAPS AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING
A novel closure for bottles comprising a bottle cap having a socket that is shaped and sized to receive the drive head of a convention winch handle. The closure is particularly useful for bottled beverages brought aboard sailboats that use manually winches. The closures can be removed from the bottles using winch handles that are already aboard the sailboat, allowing the beverages to be consumed. Methods for making and using the novel closures for bottles are also described.
