CHILD RESISTANT CAP FOR FLUID DISPENSING CONTAINERS

The present invention pertains to a child resistant cap configured to seal a container while keeping the contents secure therein. The child resistant cap disclosed herein is intended to allow access to those instructed on the manner of removal to allow the dispensing of a container's contents while providing suitable resistance to the efforts of children to gain access. The manner of removal requires multiple steps intended to resist the efforts of children in accordance with current poison prevention packaging regulations.

Cap and container assemblies

A cap and container assembly includes a container having a base and a side wall extending upward from the base. The base and the side wall define an interior, and the side wall defines an opening leading to the interior. A cap moves with respect to the container between an opened position in which the opening is exposed, and a closed position in which the cap covers the opening. A tab projects outward from the cap and has a bottom surface. A spacer projects from the container side wall at a location beneath the tab when the assembly is in the closed position. The spacer bends inward towards the container in response to application of a sufficient force, to move from a locked position that blocks the bottom surface of the tab, to an unlocked position to expose at least a portion of the bottom surface of the tab.

Various embodiments of containers are described having child-resistant closures. The containers can include a body having at least one wall that at least partially defines a hollow interior portion into which goods or other products can be stored. A wall of at least one of the body and cap can include a set of apertures that collectively define a compression region, which acts a living spring to allow compression of the wall to permit seating of lugs or other projection within notches.
