Containers and closures
A closure may have a top wall and a side wall depending from the top wall. A plug seal device may depend from said top wall within the side wall. The plug seal device may have an upper section, a lower section, and a sealing section proximate the boundary between the upper section and the lower section. The sealing section is operable such that when the plug seal device is inserted in an opening to an inner cavity in a container, the sealing section engages with an inner container surface to provide a seal between an inner cavity of the container and the external environment.
Ventilated lid for insulated container
A lid for an insulated container comprises a flexible gasket configured to facilitate a seal between the lid and an inner wall of the insulated container, and further configured to expand into an interior compartment of the insulated container responsive to a vacuum developing in the interior compartment. A diaphragm chamber is situated opposite the flexible gasket from the interior compartment when the lid is fully engaged with the insulated container. One or more air channels couple the diaphragm chamber to an exterior of the lid. The development of a vacuum in the interior compartment of the insulated container draws a force on the flexible gasket, thereby reducing pressure in the diaphragm chamber. The negative pressure in diaphragm chamber is back-filled with external air, which enters the lid via the air channels. The lid may then be removed without excessive vacuum forces.
Closures and vessels with closures
A closure can close an outlet of a vessel. The vessel outlet can comprise a tubular cavity with an interior surface. The closure can comprise a male portion comprising a distal undersized portion, a proximal oversized portion, and a taper between the undersized and oversized portion. The male portion can be inserted in the vessel outlet, undersized portion first. Interference between the inner diameter of the vessel outlet and the outer diameter of male portion can occur when the male portion is sufficiently inserted. The interference can cause the undersized portion to flare out and engage the interior surface of the tubular cavity, thereby providing a seal.
Resealable Beverage Container and Method of Manufacture
A resealable beverage container having an upper portion disposed overtop the container end and a base seamed into the open end. The container end incudes an impermeable gasket member disposed exteriorly thereupon, overtop of which the upper portion is engaged. The upper portion is rotatable between an open position and a closed position to orient at least one opening from sealed engagement with the gasket member to superimpose over at least one corresponding opening in the container end. The container may therefore be closed after opening to store contents therein. The container is manufactured using a modification to standard industry practices as seen in the art whereby minimal retooling is required for industry adoption.
Metallic can end
A metallic can end having a reclosable opening, a microgap or weakening line provided in the metallic end surface and peripheral about the opening, a sealing frame connected to the end surface and surrounding the opening region, a closure unit connected to the upwardly pivotable metal end region disposed within the microgap or weakening line, that is pivotably attached to the end surface via a pivot bearing. The sealing frame and the closure unit are composed of plastic material and cooperate in a sealing manner with one another via sealing and latching ribs that form sealing edges with associated reception grooves. The metallic can region disposed within the peripheral microgap or weakening line is received and held in the opening region of the end. The sealing edges are configured such that the radially innermost sealing edge still seals when the radially outer sealing edges have just been released.
Cap configured to retain sealing member in cap body
A cap includes a cap body including a top plate portion and a skirt portion; a sealing member that is a separate member from the cap body and is provided in the cap body, the sealing member having an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the skirt portion; a plurality of locking portions provided in a circumferential direction of the skirt portion, and configured to regulate a movement of the sealing member in a direction away from the top plate portion and support the sealing member; and a plurality of regulating portions provided in the circumferential direction of the skirt portion, protruding inward in a radial direction than an inner peripheral surface of the skirt portion, and configured to regulate a radial movement of the sealing member.
CONTAINER AND METHOD
A blow molded container is provided. The container includes a neck having a neck finish and a transverse rim that defines an opening. A closure is provided that is engageable with the neck such that the rim is movable relative to the neck to define one or more vents configured for passage of a gas. In some embodiments, methods of use and manufacturing containers are disclosed.
CLOSURE-VESSEL SYSTEM PROVIDING CLOSURE RETENTION WITH HINGED PULL RING
A closure can close an outlet of a vessel. The vessel outlet can comprise a tubular cavity with an interior surface. The closure can comprise a male portion comprising a distal undersized portion, a proximal oversized portion, and a taper between the undersized and oversized portion. The male portion can be inserted in the vessel outlet, undersized portion first, to close the vessel. A releasable catch can facilitate closing and opening the vessel repeatedly. A pull ring can support opening the vessel or closing the vessel or toting the vessel or any combination of opening, closing, and toting the vessel. The pull ring can have one or more associated hinges.
Container with a lid and threaded closure mechanism
The container with a lid and threaded closure mechanism includes a receptacle having a mouth surrounded by a thread, a lid, a sealing ring and a closure mechanism formed by a disc with a hollow interior and a perimetral tubular skirt provided with an engagement configuration complementary to the thread of the receptacle. The closure mechanism surrounds the lid and holds it against the mouth of the receptacle by means of a threaded attachment between the engagement configuration of the closure mechanism and the thread of the receptacle, assuring proper hermetic closure of the lid with the receptacle in cooperation with the sealing ring. The lid and the closure mechanism have mutually engaging elements with a complementary non-circular geometry and size, with both elements being tightly fitted preventing relative rotation of the closure mechanism with respect to the lid.
