Surface-reacted calcium carbonate as extrusion aid
A method is described of using a surface-reacted calcium carbonate as an extrusion aid for the production of a puffed polysaccharide-based material, excluding fibrillated cellulose-containing materials. In embodiments, the surface-reacted calcium carbonate is a reaction product of ground natural calcium carbonate (GNCC) or precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) with carbon dioxide.
Edible hydration pod and method of manufacturing an edible hydration pod
The disclosure provides edible hydration pods (EHPs) for hydrating animals and a method of manufacturing EHPs. In one example, an EHP directed to dogs is disclosed that includes: (1) a casing and (2) a liquid that is within the casing, wherein the liquid is water and the casing is an edible and digestible casing that is flavored for dogs and has a thickness corresponding to a bite force of dogs.
POUCHED PRODUCT COMPRISING DISSOLVABLE COMPOSITION
A pouched product including an outer water-permeable pouch defining a cavity and a composition configured for oral use situated within the cavity is provided. The composition is at least partially orally dissolvable, and includes one or more dissolvable fillers in an amount of at least about 45% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition; a humectant in an amount up to about 25% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition; and at least one active ingredient, at least one flavorant, or both at least one active ingredient and at least one flavorant.
Compositions Suitable for Making Edible Films or Coatings
A composition suitable for making edible films or coatings, the composition comprising a conjugate of bio fiber gum and whey protein isolate and at least one food grade antimicrobial.
Edible cap
An edible cap for selectively covering an open end of a cup includes an edible flat body, an edible wax layer and an edible film. The edible flat body is in the form of a cap. The edible flat body is a solid body including a top portion and a wall extending around the top portion in a circle of a certain diameter to provide a profile in compliance with the open end of the cup. The wall includes an opening for receiving the open end of the cup. The edible wax layer is attached to a face of the edible flat body. The edible film is attached to a face of the edible wax layer opposite to the flat body in a detachable manner.
Food products and methods of preparing the same
A packaged product is disclosed that includes a cooking container, a first food product, and a packet filled with a second food product. The cooking container may have a sealed interior volume, and the first food product and the packet may be disposed within the sealed interior volume. The packet may be made of a water-soluble film that is edible. Also disclosed is a method of preparing an instant food product for consumption. The method may include removing a lid from a cooking container containing both a first food product and a packet filled with a second food product. The method may further include adding water to the cooking container to submerge and dissolve the packet.
Individual handheld filled food products comprising edible enclosing tube(s)
A sandwich wrap including a flexible, edible sheet that is adapted to enfold an edible filling whereby the resulting enclosing tube has both ends open and an auxiliary support situated under the lowermost open end when the wrap is held vertically for consumption, thus restraining filling from exiting. A method using an assembly frame positions the auxiliary support. Filling is stocked in a capped filling storage tube including at least two components that can be disassembled from inside the edible enclosing tube to give the edible enclosed filling. The food product may include a set of separately enclosed different fillings and each edible enclosing tube may be shaped around the filling storage tube to give a cross-sectional form of a circle sector so that the set forms a right circular cylinder. A seepage container assists assembly in advance of an order to avoid impairment by moisture seeping out of fillings.
Method of encapsulating liquid products
The invention relates to a method for encapsulating a liquid product, the method comprising blending together a solution of alginate and a thickener and extruding through an appropriately shaped die to form a membrane, applying a calcium rich ion solution to crosslink the membrane and create a water insoluble membrane, filling the water insoluble membrane with the liquid product; and sealing the membrane around the liquid product, encapsulating the liquid product therein.
METHOD FOR COATING A COMPACTED POWDER CAKE, IN PARTICULAR FOR PRODUCING A CAPSULE CONTAINING BEVERAGE POWER
A method for coating a powder compact, in particular for producing a capsule containing powdered beverages, comprises the following steps: i) Providing a powder compact of a powder containing at least one polysaccharide, ii) Providing a container having a container wall of a perforated material enclosing a cavity, the container having an inlet opening for introducing coating liquid into the cavity, iii) placing the powder compact in the cavity of the container, the powder compact being smaller than the volume of the cavity, (iv) introducing a coating liquid containing a coating material into the cavity via the inlet port, v) immersing the container filled with the powder compact and the coating material in a hardener liquid containing a hardener compound, the viscosity of the hardener liquid being lower than the viscosity of the coating liquid, and vi) Removal of the container from the hardener liquid and removal of the coated powder compact from the container.
Medicant Delivery Device
A medicant delivery device for masking taste of a medicant for facilitating oral delivery to an animal includes a shell, which defines an interior space. The shell has a top, which is open for insertion of a medicant therethrough into the interior space. The shell comprises one or more of protein, fat, and vegetable matter, so that the shell is both edible and formable. The shell is at least one of compressible and foldable, proximate to the top, to encase and substantially seal the medicant within the shell. The shell containing the medicant is delivered orally to an animal to medicate the animal.
