Gas storage devices

The invention relates to a device (10) for dispensing oxygen (30) under pressure. The device comprises a canister (12) filled with activated carbon (14) and oxygen (30) at a pressure of between 4 and 20 barg. when measured at room temperature. The canister is sealed with a valve assembly (18) allowing release of oxygen from the canister on actuation of the valve assembly. To ensure the activated carbon does not react with the oxygen generating carbon monoxide the device further comprises a catalyst (16) that prevents or significantly reduces the presence of carbon monoxide. In a further aspect there is a device (10) for dispensing a gas (30) under pressure which device comprises a canister (12) with a volume of 11 or less filled with activated carbon (14) to adsorb the gas under a pressure of between 4 and 20 barg when measured at room temperature. The canister (12) is sealed with a valve assembly (18) crimped to the canister over a seal allowing release of the gas (30) from the canister on actuation of the valve assembly, wherein the gas is carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen or air, and the canister is a steel canister. In a particularly favoured embodiment the device is filled with carbon dioxide and includes a high volume discharge valve making it useful as a pet behaviour correction device.

Whipped formulations

The present disclosure relates to, inter alia, a formulation in a package. The formulation comprises one or more active agents and is co-mingled with a whipping agent prior to being filled under pressure into the package. The whipping agent is added in sufficient amounts to be dispersed in the formulation. The pressurized package is under sufficient pressure suitable to maintain the whipping agent dispersed in the formulation; and the pressurized package is under sufficient pressure to expel the formulation as a whipped formulation upon application of external force on the formulation in the package.

VALVE ASSEMBLY

A valve assembly including a housing with an internally projecting lip that seals against an outer surface of a valve stem inserted through it. A gas inlet is provided above the lip and a liquid inlet is provided below the lip. The lip thus ensures that a gas flow path and a liquid flow path are kept separate until the valve stem is moved to an open position, at which point a liquid inlet hole in the stem is brought into communication with the liquid inlet in the housing and a gas inlet hole in the stem is brought into communication with the gas inlet in the housing for the fluids mix in an outlet conduit in the stem. The arrangement means that there is no contact between the liquid and a sealing gasket, thereby avoiding swelling of the gasket that can cause the stem to stick.

A method of adapting a threaded connection to an aerosol can, including providing a lower fitting, an upper fitting including a male thread, and a seating radius configured to conform with a curled lip of the aerosol can, a crimp ring, configured to rest between the lower crimp ring seating surface and the upper crimp ring seating surface, inserting the lower fitting into the crimp ring and the upper fitting, thereby forming an adaptor assembly, inserting the adaptor assembly, lower fitting first, into the aerosol can, the aerosol can comprising an inner surface, pulling the lower fitting through the upper fitting, thereby compressing the crimp ring in the axial direction while simultaneously expanding in the radial direction, thereby making contact with the inner surface and fixedly installing the adaptor assembly in the aerosol can.

Apparatus and Method for Releasing a Unit Dose of Content from a Container
20170151540 · 2017-06-01 ·

An apparatus for delivering a predetermined quantity of content from a pressurized container includes a dispensing assembly which sits on the container and connects with an upper portion of a valve stem of the valve assembly, wherein the dispensing assembly includes a) an actuator cap having a discharge passage, which is open or obstructed and wherein the actuator cap acts as a metering chamber in combination with b) an adaptor which fits inside the cap and also snuggly engages the valve stem. The cap fits snuggly over the adjuster to define a metering chamber which depending on its position can close off the metered chamber or open it to the dispensing conduit nozzle. When the cap is depressed it pushes down on the adjuster which depresses the valve. The chamber fills, but nothing is released until the upstroke.
