System and method for collecting medical waste that monitors the waste for objects that may have been inadvertently discarded

A mobile cart that holds a bag for receiving solid waste generated during a medical or surgical procedure. The cart includes a sensor that monitors whether or not an object containing metal is placed in the bag. A processor monitors the signal output by the sensor. If the sensor signal indicates that an object with a minimal amount of metal is placed in the bag, the processor momentarily asserts an audible alarm and continuously asserts a light alarm. The light alarm remains asserted until turned off. If, while the light alarm is on, the sensor signal indicates a second object with the minimal amount of waste is placed in the container, the processor again momentarily asserts the audible alarm. This provides notice that it may be necessary to investigate the contents of the bag to determine if not one but two or more objects were inadvertently discarded.

A waste or recycling container system is disclosed. The container system includes a container and a rigid liner for inserting into the container. The liner includes a supporting structure provided on a wall of the liner. The liner also includes bag retention structures. The liner is capable of being placed in the container in a first position and a second position. In the first position, the bag retention structures are below an opening of the container. In the second position, the supporting structure rests on a resting portion of the container walls and the liner is elevated with respect to the first position such that the bag retention structures are above the opening of the container.

Waste handling system and method

A method and a waste handling system, wherein waste or recyclable material is transported in carrier bags, bags or sack to a disposal point, and from there onwards by a transport vehicle for further processing. An RFID identifier is used in connection with the carrier bag, bag, or sack, or used in waste transport. A closing member is provided with an RFID) identifier used in closing, or as verification of the closing of the carrier bag, bag, sack. A sensor is arranged in connection with, or in the proximity of, a disposal point, such as a waste room, of the waste system. Information read from the RFID identifier by the sensor is transmitted to a control unit, that is fitted to control the waste transport system based on the information given by the RFID identifier.

A waste containment system for use with a waste management system, having a chute and a container, includes a sensor configured to determine a position of a chute top lid. The waste containment system also includes at least one pivoting mechanism operatively coupled to at least one flap of a container top lid. The pivoting mechanism is configured to move the at least one flap between an open position and a closed position. The waste containment system also includes a controller operatively coupled to the sensor and to the at least one pivoting mechanism. The controller is configured to control the pivoting mechanism based on the determined position of the chute top lid.

A garbage bin includes a bin body, a first frame, a second frame, and a lid body. The bin body has an opening and an internal space. The first frame is disposed on the bin body and includes a first engaging unit. The first frame encloses a first opening communicating the opening of the bin body. The second frame includes a second engaging unit and encloses a second opening. The second frame is detachably connected to the first frame by an engagement of the first engaging unit and the second engaging unit and communicates the first opening. Each of a direction of the second opening and a direction of the first opening is the same with the direction of the opening of the bin body. The lid body is pivotally connected to the second frame to selectively cover the second opening.

REINFORCED LID ASSEMBLY FOR A WASTE BIN

A lid assembly for hinged connection to a bin body with an open top, the lid assembly including a lid formed as a single layer of polymer dimensioned to cover the open top, and a reinforcing frame for attachment to a hinge at a rear edge of the open top, the reinforcing frame having reinforcing members extending from the hinge towards a front edge of the lid extending along a front edge of the open top when the lid is in a closed position, wherein the reinforcing members attach to the lid for rotating therewith about the hinge.
