SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PARENT ROLL TAIL REDUCTION
Described herein are methods and systems for reducing the tail on a parent roll. The system may comprise a web tail extending from a parent roll supported by an unwind stand. The system may further comprise one or more nozzles positioned below the web tail and configured to facilitate the rewinding of the web tail about the parent roll. The web tail may be rewound about the parent roll in a direction opposite to that which the web was initially wound about the parent roll. As a result, the length of the web tail extending from the parent roll may be reduced and is less likely to lengthen as the parent roll is ejected from the unwind stand.

Flexible drive and core engagement members for a rewinding machine
A core end engagement assembly is provided for a rewinding machine. The core end engagement assembly is configured to engage an end of the core and transmit rotational movement to the core during winding of the web material about the core. The assembly may include a drive housing. A chuck may project from a first end of the drive housing and may be configured to engage the end of the core. A first actuator may reciprocate the drive housing along a central axis of the core between an engagement and disengagement position of the chuck relative to the core. A second actuator may be mounted on the drive housing. The second actuator may be configured and adapted to move the chuck between release and hold positions. A flexible drive shaft operatively connects with and rotationally drives the chuck.
MAT ROLLER DEVICE
A machine for quickly and efficiently rolling carpet runners or mats after laundering, for storage, transport and reuse may include a set of belts for generally horizontal travel and an interacting set of belts for generally vertical travel and guide means for directing the leading edge of a carpet runner from engagement with the horizontal belts to engagement with the vertical belts. An assembly including a plurality of arcuate fingers cooperates with the belts to guide the leading edge of a carpet runner into the beginning of a roll and to assist in formation of a tight compact roll of carpet. The machine may include means for driving the belts, means for retracting the finger assembly from a completed rolled carpet runner, and controls for the means. The machine may include a safety apparatus including a light curtain.

Reel-up for receiving and winding into a roll a paper web that arrives from a drying cylinder in a paper making machine and a paper making machine using a reel-up
The invention relates to a reel-up (1) for receiving and winding into a roll (5) a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder (2) in a paper making machine. The reel-up (1) comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool (4) onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll (5) of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt (6) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt (6) forms a loop. The flexible belt (6) is positioned adjacent to the reel spool (4) to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool (4) during winding such that the flexible belt (6) is deflected from the predetermined path of travel when the paper roll (5) starts to build up on the reel spool (4). The flexible belt (6) is air permeable and at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) is arranged inside the loop of the flexible belt (6) such that an underpressure can be generated that draws the paper web (W) against the flexible belt (6). The at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) has at least one nozzle (10) through which air is blown out of the at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) and the nozzle is shaped as a slot. According to the invention, the at least one blow (7,8, 9) box faces the flexible belt (6) with an outer surface (11) which is convexly curved such that dust which has been sucked through the flexible belt (6) and lands on the at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) is helped by gravity to glide along the outer surface (11) of the blow box (7, 8, 9) and fall of the blow box (7, 8, 9).

Reel-up for winding a paper web into a roll and a method of winding a paper web to form a roll
The invention relates to a reel-up (2) for receiving and winding into a roll (3) a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder (17) in a paper making machine (1). The reel-up (2) comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool (4) onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll (3) of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt (5) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt (5) forms a loop. The flexible belt (5) is positioned adjacent to the reel spool (4) to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool (4) during winding such that the flexible belt (5) is deflected from the predetermined path of travel. According to the invention, the endless flexible belt (5) comprises electrically conductive material such that static electricity in the flexible belt (5) is dissipated away from the flexible belt (5). The invention also relates to a paper making machine in which the inventive reel-up is used and to a method of winding a paper web.
