Post-processing device, method for controlling post-processing device, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program for controlling post-processing device

A post-processing unit includes a stapler, a driving section, and a controller. The stapler is moved in a Y direction and executes a stapling process on a paper sheet. The driving section moves the stapler in the Y direction. The controller controls an operation of the stapler and an operation of the driving section. The controller executes first control to supply a set current or a set voltage to the driving section, second control to supply, to the driving section, the same supply current as the set current or the same supply voltage as the set voltage, and third control to stop the supply of the supply current or the supply voltage. When the stapler executes the stapling process a plurality of times, the controller repeatedly executes the second control and the third control and causes the stapler to execute the stapling process during the execution of the second control.

A document transport device includes a placement portion, a slide member, a movable piece, and a detector. A document is to be placed on the placement portion. The slide member includes a document guide that contacts one lateral side of the document which is placed on the placement portion. The movable piece is provided to the slide member, and includes a shading pattern composed of plural patches that have plural densities corresponding to plural document sizes and having plural adjacent patch density differences that are different from each other. The detector detects a density of the shading pattern, and outputs an output signal for document size recognition.

In executing a plug-in program for extending functionality of an application, an information processing device performs a)inputting a width of a sheet, and b) executing a setting based on the input width to a predetermined program, so that the predetermined program scales an object generated by the application to a size corresponding to the input width. Further, a setting screen on which a user is able to designate a scaling process by the predetermined program, is able to be displayed by executing the predetermined program, and in the executing, the setting based on the input width is executed by the plug-in program, to the predetermined program, without displaying the setting screen by the predetermined program.

Sheet size detector and image processing apparatus

A sheet size detector to detect a sheet size of a recording medium includes a movable member to move in a sheet size detection direction to a position corresponding to the sheet size, a magnetic flux detector including a coil disposed on a board face parallel to the sheet size detection direction to generate a magnetic flux in a direction perpendicular to the board face, and a target to oppose the board face and including a material to affect the magnetic flux. The target is different in configuration in the sheet size detection direction to change the magnetic flux in the direction perpendicular to the board face as the movable member moves. The magnetic flux detector outputs a signal corresponding to changes in magnetic flux in the direction perpendicular to the board face, and the signal corresponds to the position of the movable member.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS THAT CONTROLS SHEET INTERVAL

An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance member to convey a sheet, an image forming unit, a fixing device, a component, and a controller. The image forming unit forms a toner image on the conveyed sheet conveyed. The fixing device fixes an unfixed toner image formed on the sheet, onto the sheet. Heat of the fixing device propagates to the component. The controller controls a passing sheet interval between a plurality of sheets passing through the fixing device. The controller executes throughput control for controlling a sheet interval, which is an interval between a preceding sheet and a subsequent sheet passing through the fixing device, such that a temperature of a non-passage region through which sheets do not pass in the fixing device is suppressed to a predetermined first limit temperature or less and a temperature of the component is suppressed to a predetermined second limit temperature or less.

A paper size that can be created using an application software program (hereinafter abbreviated as an application) operating on a computer often has a maximum value, and maximum values differ from application to application. Thus, in order to obtain a printout of a size larger than the maximum paper size of an application, cumbersome operations have been needed such as calculating a paper size (including an aspect ratio) while taking the maximum paper size of the application into consideration, setting the paper size in the application, and calculating and setting an enlargement ratio of a printer driver.

In the present invention, in a plug-in of a general-purpose application, a user is only required to specify the size of a printout to be output in order to calculate a paper size that has the same aspect ratio as an output size that is within the maximum paper size of the application and to set the paper size in the printer driver and the application. Thereby, the foregoing problems are overcome.

A sheet feeder includes a stacker, a sheet feeding member, an aligner, a switcher, a size specifying unit, and circuitry. The sheet feeding member contacts and feeds a sheet stack on the stacker. The aligner is movable to align a position in a sheet width direction of the sheet stack on the stacker. The switcher switches the aligner from a separation state to a contact state without waiting for a feeding start instruction after the sheet stack is stacked on the stacker. The circuitry delays a switching completion time when the size in the sheet width direction of the sheet stack specified by the size specifying unit is smaller than a given size, to be later than the switching completion time when the size in the sheet width direction of the sheet stack is equal to or greater than the given size.
