Sheet detection device and sheet detection method
Each of the sheets is conveyed by a horizontal conveyance unit in a state of being overlapped with a next sheet from above. Each of the sheets is conveyed out of the horizontal conveyance unit in a state of being folded along a fold line with the fold line oriented upward, the fold line extending in a conveyance direction of the horizontal conveyance unit. An oblique conveyance unit receives the sheet from the horizontal conveyance unit and successively conveys the sheets in an oblique downward direction. A sensor is arranged to detect passage of the sheets at a position where steps pass. Each of the steps is formed by two sheets adjacent to each other diverted to the oblique downward direction by the oblique conveyance unit.
Stacking device and method for sorting
A pair of conveyance rollers are arranged for signatures. The signatures is conveyed through the pair of conveyance rollers to a stacking unit while being sandwiched from both sides thereof between the pair of conveyance rollers. In response to passage of a signature for a sheet stack through the pair of the conveyance rollers, the conveyance rollers is switched from conveyance rotation to intermittent rotation to cause the pair of the conveyance rollers to keep the signatures for a next sheet stack from being conveyed to the stacking unit. In response to the stacking unit becoming ready to receive the signatures for the next sheet stack, the conveyance rollers is switched from the intermitted rotation or the stop to the continuous rotation to cause the pair of the conveyance rollers to convey to the signatures to the stacking unit.
Sheet processing apparatus and image forming system
A sheet processing apparatus includes a saddle unit on which a mountain-folded sheet folded along a folding line is accumulated so as to straddle the saddle unit, a staple inserting section disposed above the saddle unit, and a staple receiving section accommodated in the saddle unit. The staple inserting section includes an inserting unit which inserts a staple into the folding lines of the sheets, and holding members disposed on both sides of the inserting unit in a direction parallel to the folding lines of the sheets. The staple receiving section includes a staple receiving unit which receives and bends the tips of the staple inserted by the inserting unit, and supporting members disposed on both sides of the staple receiving unit at positions opposite to the holding members.
Apparatus and Method for Producing Printed Products
An apparatus for producing printed products such as books, magazines, brochures, catalogues or the like comprises several connected devices for the processing of printed sheets. The printed sheets are admitted with blast air via at least one air supply in order to change or maintain their position. At least two of the connected devices are respectively provided with at least one blower for generating blast air. The blast air can be used in the respective device. The blowers are connected to a control unit of the apparatus so that the blast air generated by the blowers can be controlled as needed.

Single path single web single-fold interfolder and methods
Embodiments of the present invention provide new and improved folding apparatuses and methods for interfolding a continuous stream of sheets into a single-fold interfolded pattern of sheets while passing all of the sheets substantially along a single sheet path. More particularly, all sheets in the continuous stream of sheets pass through the nips between adjacent components.
Imaging apparatus and methods for bindery systems
Imaging apparatus and methods for bindery systems are disclosed. An example method includes engaging a signature assembly with an end of a separator to cause 1) a first page of the signature assembly to be disposed on a platform and 2) a second page of the signature assembly to be disposed on the side of the platform; drawing the first page toward the platform; and imaging the first page when the first page is on the platform.
Spool and spindle guide system
A saddle stitcher is provided. The saddle stitcher includes a saddle conveyor for transporting signatures and at least one signature guide located along the saddle conveyor. The signature guide includes a plurality of supports and at least one flexible member supported by the plurality of supports thereby defining a guide area. The at least one flexible member guides the signature in the guide area. Methods are also provided.
