A roller for guiding a sheet (101) by friction has a contact surface (2) designed to be in contact with the sheet (101), the contact surface (2) having, overall, a shape of revolution when the roller (1) is at rest, a central portion (6) configured to mechanically connect the roller (1) to a rotating drive element, and a deformation portion (10) located between the contact surface (2) and the central portion (6), the deformation portion (10) being configured to deform elastically when the roller (1) guides the sheet (101) by friction. The deformation portion (10) comprises at least one cut (12) extending from the contact surface (2) to the central portion (6), the cut (12) being arranged such that the deformation portion (10) comprises at least one elastically deformable segment (16).
SHEET FEEDING APPARATUS AND IMAGE READING APPARATUS
A sheet feeding apparatus includes a document tray configured to support a document, a pickup roller configured to feed the sheet supported on the document tray, a separation roller pair configured to separate the sheets fed by the pickup roller one by one, a paddle arranged between the pickup roller and the separation roller pair in a sheet feeding direction and feeding the sheet supported on the document tray, and a drive motor capable of driving the pickup roller, the separation roller pair and the paddle. The paddle feeds the sheet supported on the document tray with a conveyance force weaker than the pickup roller.

A retarding roller (a roller) is formed of a synthetic rubber (an industrial rubber material) such as ethylene propylene diene M-class rubber (EPDM) or polyurethane, or alternatively, silicone. The roller core of the retarding roller is cylindrical. M arc-shaped long holes (where M is an integer greater than or equal to 4) are formed in each of N layers (where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2) from a first layer (an outermost layer) to an Nth layer (an innermost layer) which are circular and concentric to a center axial line. In each layer, long holes are formed such that spokes in adjacent layers (an ith layer and an i+1th layer, where i is an integer from 1 to N−1) do not overlap in the circumferential direction.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ROLLER MEMBER, ROLLER-MEMBER MOLD, ROLLER SHAFT, AND ROLLER MEMBER
A roller shaft is inserted into a mold including molding members respectively having a first mold surface that defines an outer circumference of a roller portion and second and third mold surfaces that respectively define first and second flat portions of the roller portion, and the mold is then closed. A molding material is injected around the roller shaft to integrally mold the roller portion. The roller portion includes the outer circumference and the first and second flat portions rising from the roller shaft to the outer circumference. The roller shaft includes flange portions at portions corresponding to the first and second flat portions. The flange portions prevent the molding material from leaking outside the first and second flat portions when the roller portion is integrally molded around the roller shaft by injection molding.
PRIMER APPARATUS
A primer roller may include a cylinder having an outer support surface. The outer support surface support surface may have a length in an axial direction and a fixed outer diameter extending along the length. The roller may further comprise, at least at least one elastically deformable annular sleeve having an axial length less than the axial length of the support surface of the cylinder an external diameter greater than the outer diameter of the support surface of the cylinder, and an internal diameter which provides a friction fit on the support surface of the cylinder. The outer surface of the support roller comprises a plurality of fluid outlets. The outlets are distributed about the support surface. Fluid expelled from the fluid outlets enables the sleeve to be slidably positioned relative to the support surface. A priming apparatus and a print press are also disclosed.

According to one embodiment, a sheet conveying device includes a conveying path forming unit and an orthogonal movement permitting part. The conveying path forming unit forms a path for conveying a sheet. The orthogonal movement permitting part is provided in the conveying path. The orthogonal movement permitting part conveys the sheet along the conveying direction. The orthogonal movement permitting part allows the sheet to move in a conveying orthogonal direction orthogonal to the conveying direction.

In one step, a first pre-product is provided, which has an edge region. In another step, a second pre-product is provided. In a further step, the second pre-product is conveyed into a wrapping position. In a further step, the first pre-product is conveyed, with the edge region in front, against the second pre-product located in the wrapping position, as a result of which a wrapping operation is initiated on the second pre-product.
