PRESSING ROLLER WITH A DEFORMABLE COUPLING STRUCTURE
A pressing roller is provided including an inner core and a roller cover structure where the roller cover structure is divided into segments. Each roller cover segment may have a rigid inner ring, an elastomeric outer ring, and a deformable coupling structure located between the inner ring and the outer ring. The deformable coupling structure may be formed from a shape memory alloy, a carbon fiber composite, or nylon.

There is provided a printing apparatus including: a recorder; first and second conveying rollers; a first member which includes the first conveying roller and in which the first conveying roller is supported shakably; and a second member which includes the second conveying roller. The first member includes: a roller support having: an extending part which extends in an extending direction of a rotation shaft of the first conveying roller, and first and second supports which rotatably supports first and second ends of the rotation shaft of the first conveying roller, respectively; and at least one pressing part configured to press a central area of the extending part in a pressing direction extending from the first conveying roller to the second extending roller, in a state that the first and second conveying rollers are brought into contact with each other.
Low cost manual expanding-dunnage conversion apparatus
A manually-operated dunnage conversion apparatus includes a housing with an outlet opening, a supply of slit sheet stock material supported within the housing for dispensing from the outlet opening, and a pair of opposed expansion members rotatably coupled to the housing for rotation about respective, parallel expansion axes between the supply and the outlet opening. The expansion members are biased towards each other via a biasing member to provide a gripping force on sheet stock material fed therebetween to apply friction to the sheet stock material that causes the sheet stock material to expand in length and thickness as an operator pulls the sheet stock material from the outlet opening in the housing. With the possible exception of the biasing member, the apparatus may be made of paper-based products, making the apparatus recyclable, reusable, and composed of a renewable resource, as well as inexpensive to manufacture.
Sheet conveying device and image processing apparatus
According to one embodiment, a sheet conveying device includes a roller, a motor, a clutch, and a torque generator. The roller conveys a sheet. The motor is a driving source. The clutch connects or disconnects drive of the motor with respect to the roller. The torque generator applies a torque to the roller.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS
A scanner includes: a first transport roller pair that transports a material; a reader that reads the material; a second transport roller pair that transports the material; a transport motor; and a pressing section. The transport motor 50 rotates both the rollers of the first transport roller pair and both the rollers of the second transport roller pair. The pressing section can vary a first pressing force generated in the first transport roller pair and a second pressing force generated in the second transport roller pair. The pressing section varies the second pressing force in such a way that the second pressing force when the first transport roller pair transports the material but the second transport roller pair does not transport the material becomes lower than the second pressing force when neither the first transport roller pair nor the second transport roller pair transports the material.
Conveyor
A conveyor includes: a supporting member which supports the first and second roller units to allow the first and second rollers to take one of a first conveyance position and a first retracted position; a movable member which is movable between a first position where the first roller and the second roller take the first conveyance position and a second position where the rollers take the first retracted position; a cover member which is switchable between a closed state where the cover member is a part of the conveyance passage and an open state where a part of the conveyance passage is open; and an interlocking mechanism which is configured to move the movable member to the second position when the cover member is in the open state and moves the movable member to the first position when the cover member is in the closed state.

A compactor for lengthwise compressive shrinkage of fabrics including an infeed roller and an outfeed roller that are fixed positioned parallel to one another as to define a compaction zone, a pressure roller that is movable and positioned above the compaction zone as to be self-centering between the infeed roller and the outfeed roller and as to define an infeed nip-point between the infeed roller and the pressure roller and an outfeed nip-point between the outfeed roller and the pressure roller, and a saddle assembly positioned within the compaction zone, the saddle assembly including a bed liner having an upper surface facing the pressure roller and a lower surface opposite the upper surface.

A layer transfer device configured to transfer at least one layer of a multilayer film onto a toner image includes: a sheet conveying unit; a supply reel; a wind-up reel; a film transfer unit; and a peeling roller disposed between the film transfer unit and the wind-up reel in a conveyance path and configured to peel off the multilayer film from a sheet, and the film transfer unit includes: a first roller provided to contact the sheet; and a second roller provided to contact the multilayer film, and a tangent line of the second roller at a downstream end of a nip part passes between a center of the second roller and a center of the peeling roller, and an angle formed by the tangent line and a film tension portion of the multilayer film tensed between the nip part and the peeling roller is 15 to 37 degrees.
Sheet conveying device and image forming apparatus incorporating the sheet conveying device
A sheet conveying device includes a pair of rollers, a biasing member, a guide member, a biasing support, and a biasing force changer. The pair of rollers includes a first roller and a second roller disposed in contact with the first roller. The pair of rollers is configured to hold a sheet between the first roller and the second roller. The biasing member is configured to bias the first roller toward the second roller. The biasing support is configured to support the biasing member and has a guide target member configured to slide along the guide member to move the biasing support. The biasing force changer is configured to change a biasing force of the biasing member along with movement of the biasing support. The guide target member has a portion projecting into a sheet conveyance passage through which the sheet is conveyed by the pair of rollers.
