A recording apparatus includes: a housing; a recording section that performs a recording operation on a medium and is disposed inside the housing; a storage section that stores the medium; a transport route along which the medium is transported; a transport section that transports the medium; a reading section that reads an original sheet and is positioned higher than the recording section; a supply section that supplies the original sheet to the reading section; and a supply route through which the original sheet passes. Each of the supply and transport routes is formed at substantially right angles to a width of the housing. The transport route has a curved section in which the medium is turned over. The reading section is positioned behind the recording section in a depth direction from the front to rear surface of the housing.

A paper sheet handling apparatus including a paper sheet transport direction switching unit adapted to switch transport directions of paper sheets and to then feed the paper sheets, the paper sheet transport direction switching unit includes: a first direction switching and feeding member adapted to pressurize one side of a paper sheet transported, switch the transport direction of the paper sheet, and feed the paper sheet switched in direction; and a second direction switching and feeding member facing the first direction switching and feeding member in such a manner as to operate together with the first direction switching and feeding member to pressurize the other side of the paper sheet transported, switch the transport direction of the paper sheet, and feed the paper sheet switched in direction.

A recording apparatus includes: a housing; a recording section that performs a recording operation on a medium and is disposed inside the housing; a storage section that stores the medium; a transport route along which the medium is transported; a transport section that transports the medium; a reading section that reads an original sheet and is positioned higher than the recording section; a supply section that supplies the original sheet to the reading section; and a supply route through which the original sheet passes. A medium conveyance device includes a first loading base that has a first loading surface formed thereon and is movably supported on a main body, a second loading base that has a second loading surface formed thereon and is movably supported on the first loading base so that the second loading surface is positioned next to with the first loading surface and so that the second loading surface overlaps with the first loading surface, a mechanism that converts motion of the first loading base into motion of the second loading base so that the second loading base is arranged in a position corresponding to a position in which the first loading base is arranged, and an elastic member that is elastically deformed when the second loading base is not arranged in a position corresponding to a position in which the first loading base is arranged.

A recording apparatus includes: a recording section that performs a recording operation on a medium; a housing that contains the recording section; a storage section that stores the medium; and a reading unit disposed in an upper portion of the housing. The reading unit includes: a reading section that reads an original sheet; a guide member that guides the original sheet; and an aperture through which the original sheet that has been read by the reading section passes. By being rotated relative to the housing, the guide member is switched between a first position in which the aperture is exposed and the original sheet is to be guided and a second position in which the aperture is covered.

Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item in a receptacle are disclosed. Features are disclosed for receiving and guiding an item in a receiving space of a receptacle so as to attenuate or remove the impact force of the item on the receptacle. Some embodiments of the disclosure include a bumper having an impact surface which absorbs most or all of the impact force of the item and thereby mitigates or removes the imposition of cyclic impact loads on the receptacle from repeated receipt of items. The bumper may be structurally and/or functionally de-coupled or otherwise physically separated from the receptacle such that an advantageous division of labor is created between absorbing the impact and receiving the item. This disclosure may be useful, for example, in modern industrial operations where a high volume of items are received daily, such as in mail sorting and handling operations.

A bag supply system includes a bag accommodating unit having a holding member to externally support a bag bundle; and a bag supply device to which bags are supplied from the bag accommodating unit. The bag supply device includes a taking-out unit that takes the bag bundle out of the bag accommodating unit and carries the bag bundle to a depositing unit. The holding member supports the bag bundle in the state of exposing a part of one of a front surface and a back surface of each of a bag arranged on a frontmost side and a bag arranged on a backmost side of two or more bags included in the bag bundle. The taking-out unit takes the bag bundle out of the bag accommodating unit while holding the exposed part of the bag bundle supported by the holding member.

A paper sheet handling apparatus including a paper sheet transport direction switching unit adapted to switch transport directions of paper sheets and to then feed the paper sheets, the paper sheet transport direction switching unit includes: a first direction switching and feeding member adapted to pressurize one side of a paper sheet transported, switch the transport direction of the paper sheet, and feed the paper sheet switched in direction; and a second direction switching and feeding member facing the first direction switching and feeding member in such a manner as to operate together with the first direction switching and feeding member to pressurize the other side of the paper sheet transported, switch the transport direction of the paper sheet, and feed the paper sheet switched in direction.
