A recording apparatus includes a housing configured to house a recording portion recording an image on a sheet and to have a side including an opening through which the sheet passes, a tray configured to rotate about a rotation shaft, relative to the housing, between a closed position at a first angle for closing the opening and an open position at a second angle for loading the sheet, and an urging mechanism configured to urge the tray toward the closed position when an angle about the rotation shaft of the tray is between the first angle and a third angle and to urge the tray toward the open position when an angle about the rotation shaft of the tray is between the third angle and the second angle. The third angle is an angle between the first angle and the second angle.

A printer has a lower module and upper module. The lower module has a paper feed unit and a printing unit. A back of the upper module is hinged to lower module. A paper handling part holds paper after printing by the printing unit. A discharge unit in the upper module moves the paper out of the upper module while maintaining a hold on a rear portion of the paper and to draw the paper back into the upper module after an elapse of time. A container includes a support member that rotates into contact with and moves away from a lower part of the upper module. The container configured to receive and store the paper that has been drawn back by the discharge unit. The paper is stored in a region between the support member and the lower part of the upper module.

A printer has a lower module and upper module. The lower module has a paper feed unit and a printing unit. A back of the upper module is hinged to lower module. A medium discharge includes a first tray having a first medium receiving surface, a second tray having a second medium receiving surface for receiving the medium discharged from the first tray, a discharge section that discharges the medium disposed on the first tray to the second tray, and a push-down portion that is located downstream of a downstream end of the first medium receiving surface in the medium discharge direction, and that is located at a place deviated from the discharge section in a width direction that is a direction intersecting with the medium discharge direction, and pushes down a part of an upstream end of the medium to be discharged in the medium discharge direction.

A sheet conveyance device of an embodiment includes a carrying-in unit feeds a sheet to a stacking unit; a lower conveyance unit applies a force to a lower side of a sheet stacked on the stacking unit to move the sheet; a lifting and lowering unit lifts and lowers at least an end of the lower conveyance unit on a side close to the carrying-in unit in at least three stages (lower, middle, and upper); an upper conveyance unit faces the lower conveyance unit and applies a force to the upper side of a sheet pinched between the upper conveyance unit and the lower conveyance unit that is moved to the upper stage to move the sheet; and a stopper protrudes above the lower conveyance unit placed at the lower stage by the lifting and lowering unit, and the downstream end in the feeding direction of a sheet abuts on the stopper.

Various embodiments of a paper feed and tray extension system for adapting printer components to accommodate election document dimensions are disclosed herein. To accomplish this, a printer feed adapter system includes a paper tray extension for implementation within an existing printer that extends a paper tray to enable the paper tray to receive sheets of paper that have required dimensions for election documents. Further, paper catch extender extends a paper catch to enable the paper catch to catch election document sheets following processing by the printer.

Subsequent to completion of printing on a current media sheet, a pick transmission of the printing device linking a motor of the printing device to a pick roller of the printing device is engaged to load a next media sheet via the motor driving the pick roller. While the next media sheet is being loaded due to the motor driving the pick roller, the current media sheet is ejected via the motor driving an eject roller of the printing device.

An automatic document feeder includes a media path to route media through the automatic document feeder, at least one media tray to one of supply the media to the media path and receive the media from the media path, and an automated media tray extender at an end of the media tray, the automated media tray extender to be positioned based on a presence of the media in the media tray.

According to examples, an apparatus may include an input tray coupled to a media path and an output tray to receive media from the media path. The output tray may be automatically positioned to an open position based on the media being inputted into the input tray. A movable section may be movably coupled to the output tray. In some examples, the movable section may automatically move relative to the output tray based on the output tray being automatically positioned to the open position.

An image forming apparatus includes: an apparatus body; an image forming unit that forms a toner image on a recording medium; a first transport part that transports the recording medium to the image forming unit along a feed path extending from one side toward the other side in the horizontal direction, the feed path being a path along which the recording medium transported by the first transport part passes, and that includes a portion extending toward the one side beyond the image forming unit; and a second transport part that transports the recording medium from the image forming unit to the outside of the apparatus body along a discharge path extending from the other side toward one side in the horizontal direction and that includes a portion extending toward the one side beyond the image forming unit, the discharge path and the feed path at least partially overlapping each other in the vertical direction.
