An image forming apparatus includes a main body of the image forming apparatus with an opening portion, an image forming unit, an accommodation portion, a stack portion, a sheet moving unit, and a control unit that controls switching between a first mode that moves, with the sheet moving unit, a sheet accommodated in the accommodation portion and stops the sheet when a part of the sheet is exposed external to the main body of the image forming apparatus from the opening portion, and a second mode that moves the sheet, with the sheet moving unit, accommodated in the accommodation portion and that discharges the sheet to the stack portion.

The invention relates to a system for sorting veneer sheets. The system comprises: an assembly section; a reject section; a feeding section arranged between the assembly section and the reject section; at least one detection device configured to scan a top surface of a topmost veneer sheet of a stack of veneer sheets to provide a plurality of successive scan lines images; at least two parallel transfer devices; and a control system. The control system is configured to provide a surface scan image from the plurality of successive scan lines images, determine one or more properties of the veneer sheet based on the surface scan image, and to control the at least two transfer devices to: move from an avoidance position to a pick-up position determined based on the surface scan image; pick up the topmost veneer sheet of the stack of veneer sheets; and transfer the picked-up veneer sheet to the assembly section in response to detecting that each of the determined one or more properties of the veneer sheet meets a respective predetermined criterion, or otherwise transfer the picked-up veneer sheet to the reject section. The invention relates also to a method for sorting veneer sheets.

The invention relates to a system for sorting veneer sheets. The first motor drives the moving member. The second motor drives the extrusion member. The second motor is a motor separated from the first motor. The first power transmission unit includes a first rotor. The first power transmission unit transfers power from the first motor to the moving member. The second power transmission unit includes a second rotor. The second power transmission unit transfers power from the second motor to the extrusion member. The shaft supports the first rotor and the second rotor.

The moving unit moves the sheet stored in each of the storage portions, and stop the sheet in an exposure state where a trailing edge of the sheet is inside the main body and a leading edge of the sheet is exposed outside the main body through the opening. The moving unit moves a first sheet stored in a first storage portion and a second sheet stored in a second storage portion, and stops the first sheet and the second sheet in the exposure state, wherein the leading edge of the first sheet and the leading edge of the second sheet are exposed outside the main body through the opening.

An image forming apparatus includes a main body having an opening, an image forming unit, storage portions, each to store a sheet inside the main body, and a moving unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet. The moving unit moves the sheet stored in each of the storage portions, and stop the sheet in an exposure state where a trailing edge of the sheet is inside the main body and a leading edge of the sheet is exposed outside the main body through the opening. The moving unit moves a first sheet stored in a first storage portion and a second sheet stored in a second storage portion, and stops the first sheet and the second sheet in the exposure state, wherein the leading edge of the first sheet and the leading edge of the second sheet are exposed outside the main body through the opening.

An image forming apparatus having an apparatus main body includes an image forming unit provided within the apparatus main body, a stacker portion provided on an upper surface of the apparatus main body, and a sheet storage portion provided between the image forming unit and the stacker portion. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet. The stacker portion may receive, as stacked sheets, sheets on which images are formed by the image forming unit. The sheet storage portion may store, within the apparatus main body, a sheet on which an image is formed by the image forming unit.
