The system comprises reel holders for receiving reels holding webs of packaging material, a wrapping machine arranged to receive the ice cream products, to receive the webs, to enclose the ice cream products in the webs and to seal the webs such that wrapped ice cream products are formed, and a web conveying arrangement arranged to individually feed the webs of packaging material from the reels to the wrapping machine. The web conveying arrangement comprises de-tensioning devices arranged to decrease tensions in the webs upstream the wrapping machine.

There is described a web alignment device for aligning a web comprising an engagement surface for supporting the web, a clamp assembly for clamping the web on at least a clamp portion of the engagement surface, an alignment control assembly for controlling a correct alignment of the web. The alignment control assembly comprises a control unit for generating a trigger signal if the web is correctly aligned, a first sensor device for detecting and/or determining a desired position of a first section of the web and to send at least a first signal to the control unit if the first section is positioned in the desired position, and a second sensor device for detecting and/or determining a desired position of a second section of the web and to send a second signal to the control unit if the second section is positioned in the desired position.

A bag-making and packaging machine has a film supply unit that supplies film to a bag-making and packaging unit. A machine for making filter bags of different shapes for infusion products includes: a wheel defining a work surface and rotating about a relative axis; feed stations for placing tags on the work surface, a continuous thread, along a weave path, and a strip of filter material superposing the weave of thread and the tag. A sealing device is located downstream of the feed stations for sealing between the thread, tag and strip of filter material. A feed device moving the strip along a feed line is positioned downstream of the wheel. A station introduces a dose of infusion product in bag and closes the bag. The feed device has two feed rollers, for unwinding the strip, controlled by a control system for adjusting the speed of rotation of the feed rollers as a function of the length of the filter material needed to form the bag.

Disclosed is a device for mounting and unspooling a packaging film roll. The device is attached to a horizontal, form, fill, and seal packaging machine. The film is used to form the bottom portion of packages made by the machine. The device comprises of a shaft, sleeve subassembly, air chuck, adjuster subassembly, internal and external housing subassemblies, brake, and film roller subassembly. The sleeve subassembly along with the chuck is used for holding the packing film roll. The adjuster subassembly is used to aligning the packaging film roll with the machine's conveying chain. The conveying chain pulls the film into the machine, resulting in unspooling of the packaging film roll. The brake is used to controllably stop and restart the unspooling of the film roll, which allows the film roller subassembly to keep the packing film entering the machine is flat and properly tensioned.

A device for splicing and continuously providing an outgoing film web includes a splicing unit for splicing a first or a second incoming film web to the outgoing film web, and a clamping unit and an intermediate film storage for the outgoing film web.
The splicing unit includes a first sealing jaw with a first holding device for the outgoing film web, and a first cutting device for severing the outgoing film web in the region of the first sealing jaw. The splicing unit includes a second sealing jaw with a second holding device alternately for the first or the second incoming film web, and a second cutting device for severing this incoming film web. The sealing jaws with their respective holding devices can be displaced relative to one another out of the region of action of their first and second cutting devices into their mutual region of action.
