A workpiece transport apparatus for transporting a workpiece includes: a hand device; a moving device that includes a movable part mounted with the hand device and that includes at least one drive axis configured to operate the movable part; a current measurement section configured to measure a current value of a motor that drives the drive axis; and a workpiece number detection section configured to detect that a number of workpieces held by the hand device is different from an expected number based on a comparison result between the current value measured by the current measurement section when the hand device holds the workpiece, and a predetermined threshold value.

A medium feeding device is provided with a feeding section for feeding a medium and sensors for detecting the medium. A medium conveyance device includes a first separator that separates a first medium from a plurality of mediums, a processor that processes the first medium and sends the processed first medium as a second medium, a second separator that when a non-separation mode is set, conveys the second medium to a next processor, and when a separation mode is set, conveys a third medium, which is separated from the second medium, to the next processor, and a controller that switches between the non-separation mode and the separation mode based on information obtained as a result of processing the first medium.

A medium conveyance device includes a first separator that separates a first medium from a plurality of mediums, a processor that processes the first medium and sends the processed first medium as a second medium, a second separator that when a non-separation mode is set, conveys the second medium to a next processor, and when a separation mode is set, conveys a third medium, which is separated from the second medium, to the next processor, and a controller that switches between the non-separation mode and the separation mode based on information obtained as a result of processing the first medium.

According to an embodiment, a sheet conveying device detects double feeding of sheets by an ultrasonic wave oscillator and an ultrasonic waves receiver provided across a conveying path of the sheets. The sheet conveying device calibrates a threshold voltage on the basis of an offset voltage of an amplifier circuit when the receiver has not received ultrasonic waves.

A medium feeding apparatus capable of switching between a first feeding mode and a second feeding mode, in which in the first feeding mode, when a first detection section positioned downstream of a feeding roller in a medium feeding direction detects passage of a trailing end of a preceding medium in a feeding standby state in which driving of the feeding roller that feeds the medium is stopped, starting the driving of the feeding roller to perform feeding of a succeeding medium, and in the second feeding mode, when a second detection section positioned downstream of the first detection section in the medium feeding direction detects the passage of the trailing end of the preceding medium in the feeding standby state, starting the driving of the feeding roller to perform the feeding of the succeeding medium.
